On the auspicious occasion of Onam, the students and teachers of Delhi Public School R.K. Puram came together to celebrate the festival’s enduring spirit of joy, unity and prosperity. The celebration, took place on 25 August 2026, in the D-block lounge and was graced by the Principal, Mr Anil Kumar; the Vice Principals: Mr Naresh Miglani, Mr Anil Kathuria, Mr Mukesh Kumar and Ms Rashmi Malhotra; the Headmistress of Classes IX–X, Dr. Anubha Gopal; and the Teacher Incharge of Classes VI–VIII, Ms Vandana Chandhoke.
The school was adorned with vibrant floral rangolis and garlands. Students and teachers, dressed in elegant ethnic attire, added to the beauty of the celebrations. The programme commenced with a harmonious violin orchestral performance and was followed by a series of speeches which introduced the audience to the traditions and cultural significance of Onam. Their thoughts were complemented by an evocative self-composed poem.
The programme continued with a thought-provoking skit depicting the traditional legend associated with the origin of Onam. This was followed by a Kathakali inspired dance presentation. Students then performed a soulful rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Ekla Cholo Re’ which filled the ambience with a profound sense of cultural pride and served as a fitting culmination to the celebration.
In his address, the Principal, Mr Anil Kumar, reflected on the unifying power of culture and encouraged students to remain connected to their cultural heritage. The programme concluded on a sweet note, with students serving payasam, a traditional South Indian dessert, to the teachers. The celebration highlighted the richness of India’s cultural traditions and the values of togetherness, generosity and harmony that Onam represents.
