All India Ipsc Basketball Girls U-14 Championship 2018

All India IPSC Basketball Girls U-14 Championship was held at Genesis School, Noida from 4 – 6 July, 2018. 13 IPSC School participated in this tournament. DPS RK Puram won the Overall Championship  in the Finals by defeating  DPS Mathura Road by 42-33.

Inter School Chess Tournament

The Mohini Virender Singh Inter School Chess Championship was held at Modern School, Vasant Vihar on 20 and 21 January 2018.  The top schools of Delhi participated in the contest. Delhi Public School R.K.Puram emerged victorious scoring 5 points out of a possible 6.

The team consisted of:

Sumay Mishra of XI-J was also awarded the Board prize for being nominated as the best player in the tournament.



All India Inter DPS Swimming Girls (Open) Tournament 2017

All India inter DPS Swimming Girls OpenTournament was held at DPS Navi Mumbai  from 28 – 29 November 2017 . DPS RK Puram won two Gold Medals and two Bronze Medals.



International DPS Golf Champioship (Boys Open) 2017

International Golf Boys Open Champioship was held at DPS Panipat City from 8-9 December 2017 .DPS RK Puram won  the Team Championship.

International Golf Girls Open Champioship was held at DPS Panipat City from 8-9 December 2017 . DPS RK Puram won the Team Championship and Individual Championship . Ragini was declared the Best player of the Tournament.



All India Inter DPS Tennis Girls (Open) Tournament 2017

All India Inter DPS Tennis Tournament was held at DPS Sonepat from 24-25 November 2017 . DPS RK Puram won the Overall Championship. Ridhi Ramesh Sharma was declared Best Player of the Tournament.



1st International Inter DPS Boys (Open) Shooting Championship 2017

1st International Shooting Boys Championship was held at DPS Nacharam, Hyderabad from 13-14 November 2017. DPS RK Puram won the Overall Championship in the Air Pistol Championship. Aryan Agarwal won the gold medal in Air Pistol Individual Championship and DPS RK Puram won Silver Medal in the Team Championship.



Zone 1 Inter DPS Boys Open Basketball Tournament 2017-18

Zone 1 Inter DPS Boys Open Basketball Tournament 2017-18 was held at DPS Dwarka from 13-14 November 2017. DPS RK Puram won the Championship. Shurya Chadha was declared best player of the tournament. He has qualified for Nationals to be held at DPS Bulandshahr from 17-19 November 2017.



2nd Runners up at U14 STAIRS School Football League for Girls

U14 STAIRS School Football League for Girls was held at Jose Marti Sarvodaya  Vidyalaya, R K Puram from 10-31 October 2017. DPS R K Puram won the 2nd Runners-up position.



2nd Runners up at  All India Girls U19 IPSC Football Tournament

All India Girls U19 IPSC Football Tournament was held at Birla Balika Vidyapeeth, Pilani, Rajasthan from 27- 30 October 2017.  DPS R K Puram won the 2nd Runners-up Trophy.



4th International Taekwondo Championship

4th International Taekwondo Championship was organised by Kukkiwon (South Korea) in Mumbai (India) from 10- 12 November 2017.

Kartik Gupta of Class 11-H won a gold medal in the Under 17 Blackbelt category.



All India Inter DPS Tennis Boys (Open) Tournament 2017

All India Inter DPS Tennis Tournament 2017 was held at DPS Agra from 10-11 November 2017. DPS RK Puram won the Overall Championship, defeating DPS Chandigarh by 2-1 in the Finals.



All India CBSE National Skating Girls Championship 2017-18

All India CBSE Skating Girls National Championship 2017-18 was held at IES School Bhopal from 5-8 November 2017. Shreya Wadhwa of DPS RK Puram  won Bronze Medal.



All India Inter DPS Skating Girls Open Championship 2017-18

All India Inter DPS Skating Girls Open Championship 2017-18 was held at DPS Visakhapatnam from 2-4 November 2017. DPS RK Puram won the Overall Championship.  Ashna won two Gold Medals and Shreya won two Bronze Medals.



1st Runners up at Inter DPS Internationlal Chess Girls Open Tournament

Inter DPS Internationlal Chess Girls Open Tournament was held at DPS Ranchi Jharkhand from 14-15 October . DPS RK Puram Won the 1st Runnerup Trophy . The Team consist of Saanya Mahesh and Eesha Shekhar.



All India IPSC Squash Championship Winners

All India IPSC Squash Boys Championship was held at Mayo College Ajmer (Rajastan) from 8 Aug to 11 Aug 2017. DPS RK Puram won the over all Championship in U-17 Boys and Sankalp Anand of DPS RK Puram won Gold Medal in the Individual Championship and Jaivir Singh Dillon Won the Silver Medal.



All India Ipsc Cricket Tournament (Boys-U 14)

The All India IPSC cricket tournament (Boys U 14) was held at the B K Birla Centre for Education, Pune from 09 to 14 October 2017.

16 teams from all over India participated in this league cum knock out Tournament. DPS R K Puram topped the pool in the league stage and finished third in the Tournament. Vishesh Dixit of 8 G has been selected to represent the All India IPSC U 14 Cricket Team in the forthcoming SGFI Nationals.


Central Zone Skating Championship

The CBSE Central Zone Skating Championship was held at  Laurel High The School, from 04-07 October 2017 .  Ashna of DPS RK Puram Won One Gold Medal and One Silver Medal. Shreya Won 2 Silver Medals. Ashna was declared the winner of the Champion Trophy.



All India Inter DPS Squash Championship

The All India Inter DPS Squash Boys Championship was held at DPS Surat from 09 to10 October 2017. The team from DPS RK Puram won the over all Championship and Sankalp Anand of DPS RK Puram won the Gold Medal in the Individual Championship. Jaivir Singh Dillon Won the Silver Medal. Sankalp Anand was declared Best player of the Tournament.



Inter DPS Basketball Championship

Inter DPS Basketball Girls Open Zone-2, Champioship was held at DPS InternationalSchool, Saket from 06 to 09  October 2017. DPS RK Puram Won the 1st Runner Up Trophy.



All India IPSC Girls U- 14,17 And 19 Badminton Tournament

The IPSC Badminton Tournament was organized by the Sanskaar Valley School. Bhopal from 29 September to 02 October 2017.

DPS RK Puram won the Gold medal in the team championship in the U-14 and U-17 categories. The  U-19  Girls team from DPS RK Puram Won the Bronze Medal. Harshpreet Kaur of DPS RK Puram was declared the Best Player of the Tournament in the U-17 category. DPS RK Puram Won the Overall Championship



3rd BVAM Delhi NCR Inter School Basketball Tournament 2017

3rd BVAM Delhi NCR Inter School Basketball Tournament 2017 was held at Noida Stadium from 23-26th August 2017. DPS RK Puram Won the Championship and Anta Rai  won the Best Player Award.



Friendly Match against Royal Grammar High School, Wycombe,UK

A friendly cricket match was organised against the visiting team from Royal Grammar High School,Wycombe,UK. Winning the toss, DPS RK Puram elected to bat first. Aryaman Pal(XI-W) and Viren Laungani(X-G) opened the innings and scored 109 runs and 106 runs respectively. Later Keshav Hora(XI-Q) scored 55 runs and Tanishk Dudeja(XI-K) scored 45 n.o. to end the innings of DPS RK Puram. DPS RK Puram scored 410 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated 40 overs.

In reply to the massive total put up by DPS RK Puram, Royal Grammar HIgh School, Wycombe,UK could score 92 runs only . They succumbed to this meagre total because of brilliant bowling performance by Samay Batra(XII-T) who took 6 wickets. He was accompanied by Mayank Malhotra(XI-U) who took 2 wickets. DPS RK Puram won the friendly match against Royal Grammar High School, Wycombe, UK by 318 runs.



Friendly Cricket Match with Newcastle School for Boys,UK

A friendly cricket match was organised against the visiting Newcastle School for Boys,UK. Winning the toss ,DPS RK Puram elected to bat first. Karmanya Daga(XI-Q) and Viren Laungani(X-G) opened the innings and scored 107 n.o. (6×3),(4×16) and 102 n.o.(6×5),(4×11) respectively. The huge opening stand was followed by a quickfire 80 n.o. by Siddhant Paul(XII-P) who accomplished this feat with the help of 9 sixes and 4 fours. At the end of the innings the scoreboard for DPS RK Puram stood at 359 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 25 overs.

Chasing the target of 360 runs in 25 overs, Newcastle School for Boys were all out for 80 runs. Ishir Hans(IX-M) claimed 4 wickets while Aniket Sharma (X-B) and Aditya Lakhina(XII-T) took 3 wickets each for DPS RK Puram. DPS RK Puram won the match by 279 runs.

The visiting team was introduced to the Principal before the commencement of the match.

All India IPSC (Indian Public School Conference) Tennis Boys & Girls Championship Held at  The Emerald Height International School Indore from 9-11 June 2017, DPS R K Puram won the overall championship and Under-19 Boys and Under-17 Girls won Gold Medal in the team championship. Under-17 Boys and Under-14 Boys won Silver Medal in team championship. Rohan Mehra won Gold Medal in the Under-17 Boys individual category, Sukhmani won Silver medal in the Under-17 Girls individual championship.

Friendly Cricket Match With Cheadle Hulme School Manchester UK

An organised friendly cricket match was played with visiting CHEADLE HULME SCHOOL MANCHESTER U K at the sports complex on 11 April 2017. They won the toss & elected to bat. They were declared all out for 129 runs in the stipulated 30 overs match.

Pratyaksh Mathur and Mansimar Singh claimed 3 wkts each and Keshav Hora claimed 2wkts. While chasing the target of 130 DPS lost one wkt and reached the target in11 overs only. Aryaman Pal scored 61 not out and ,Aryaman Sen scored 52 not out.

The visiting team was introduced to the Principal, Ms Vanita Sehgal before the commencement of the game.



National SMFI Karate Championship 2017

The National SMFI Karate Championship was held at St. Paul’s Diocesan School, New Delhi from 20th-22nd January 2017.
Shreya Goel of Class 10-L, secured the 1st (First) Position in the event ‘Kata’ in the Junior category. She was awarded the Gold Medal. Shreya is also Black Belt in Karate.

Shreya is a very passionate dancer. She has been participating in various Indian Classical dance competitions since the age of 8. She also has interest in Ballet & is performing ballet on the stage for 6 years now.

Recently at an All India Ballet Dance competition “Mosaic of Dance”, Shreya won the First position both in the Classical and Modern Ballet category. She was also awarded “Winner of The Grand Prix.”

LTAT Asian 14 Tennis Tournament

Adi Singh of VIII- B and Ranbir Singh of VI E participated in the LTAT ASIAN 14 Tennis Tournament held at Bangkok from 13th – 18th February 2017.
Adi Singh bagged the 11th position in the U-14 Girls Individual event and was the Quarter finalist in the Doubles event.
Ranbir Singh bagged the 26th position in the U-14 boys Individual event and reached the Pre Quarters in the Doubles event.



The 6th National Lawn Bowl & 2nd National U-25 Lawn Bowl Championship 2017

The tournaments were held at Ranchi (Jharkhand) from 5th to 11th February 2017. Sixteen state teams participated in the championship. Our school students represented Delhi and won Silver and Bronze medals in the Open and U-25 category.

Delhi secured the Third position. Preksha and Aadishwar Singh of VII-C of our school were declared “The most promising player” of the tournament.

The closing ceremony was attended by Ms. Sunaina Kumari, President of BFI and Principal of DPS Ranchi and other dignitaries of the sports bodies.



62nd National Basketball Games 2016

The 62nd School Nationals Basketball Games  2016  were held at Rajnandgaon in Chhattisgarh from 10-14 Dec 2016. Shivansh Sahu of DPS R.K. Puram won a Silver Medal. He was also the winner of the Junior NBA Basketball Championship held at New Delhi.



Indian Golf Union National Tournament

Golf Champion- Tanirika Singh

Tanirika Singh of X-J is a national level golf player. She has been participating in national level golf events since she was eight years old. She was recently Tied second in the IGU (Indian Golf Union) Yes Bank All India Junior Girls Golf Championship held in December 2016. Tanirika also participated in the DLF- IJGA National Qualifier (India) held in January 2017 and was the first runner up. She has won numerous national golf events in the past and has also stood first in the junior girls order of merit. She seeks to be the World’s no. 1 professional golfer. Tanirika Singh has excellent potential and loves to play the game.



31st National Taekwondo Championship

The 31st National Taekwondo Championship was organized from 27th- 30th December 2016 by the Sports Authority of India.

Yashvardhan Ahlawat, of 10-F won a Gold Medal in the U-17 Colour Belts Category.
Praman Verma of 10-D won a Gold and a Silver Medal in 2 different events in the U-17 Black Belts Category.



Sports Day 2016

DPS R.K. Puram organized its Sports Day on 23rd December 2016 with great enthusiasm and zeal. It was a mega event. The chief guest was the Chairman of the DPS Society, Mr.V.K.Shunglu and the Guest of Honour was the famous cricketer and Arjuna Awardee, Mr.Gautam Gambhir. Other prominent dignitaries who attended the event were Dr.D.R.Saini, Director, DPS Society and former Principal of DPS R.K.Puram; Mrs. Vinita Kher, Director, CEM, HRDC, DPS Society; Dr. Sharda Manocha, Joint Director, HRDC, DPS Society; and Mrs Bindu Sehgal, Principal, DPS Vasant Kunj.

The Principal, Ms.Vanita Sehgal, the Vice Principals, Dr.Renu Nayar, Ms.Anita Singh and Ms.Padma Srinivasan and the Head of the Physical Education department, Mr.Suresh with his team of teachers were present on the occasion.

The Sports Day was celebrated in keeping with the spirit of the Olympic motto, “Citius, Altius, Fortius”. It began with a march past by the sportspersons of the school. The Principal felicitated the Chief Guest and extended a warm welcome to all those present. She congratulated the students who participated in the events. She exhorted the students to, ‘do everything in life with passion’ and to always be themselves.

There was a spectacular Yoga performance for all. Thereafter, the Cricket bowled out Finals took place, where the students got a chance to see Mr.Gautam Gambhir play in front of their eyes. Rhythm and energy were combined in an enthralling show of Aerobic exercises by the students. The students of the school got a golden opportunity to have an interactive session with Mr. Gautam Gambhir. He shared various anecdotes of his life and told the students to enjoy whatever they do and not to think about success or failure.

The 200 metre race finals for girls and boys of all categories took place. The young martial artists presented an energetic act. As a tribute to Lord Ganesha, the school showcased a magnificent lezim performance. This was followed by the 4×100 metre Relay Finals for boys and girls under all categories. Mr. Gambhir along with the Chairman, Mr. V.K.Shunglu, Mrs. Shunglu, Ms. Vanita Sehgal and the other guests presented the awards to the winners of all the games. The school choir gave a scintillating performance, celebrating the champion in all of us.

In a surprise event, parents played musical chairs and enjoyed it thoroughly. The Chief Guest, Mr. Shunglu congratulated the winners and emphasized the importance of team spirit among the students. The Vice Principal, Dr. Renu Nayar delivered the vote of thanks. The Sports Day concluded with the National Anthem.



28th Delhi State Taekwondo Championship 2016

The 28th Delhi State Taekwondo Championship was held at the Thyagraj Stadium from the 1st to the 4th of December 2016.The students of DPS R.K.Puram won 5 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.

CBSE Zone Chess Championship 2016

The CBSE North Zone Chess tournament was held at Mount Abu Public School, Rohini from 20th to 22nd October 2016, DPS R.K. Puram won the Overall Team Championship in the U-19 Boys and the U-19 Girls and qualified for the CBSE Nationals to be held at DPS Varanasi. DPS RK Puram won the third place in the U-14 Boys ,U-14 Girls and the U-11 Boys Category.



Shooting Champion Shirene Singh

The 20th Delhi State Inter School Shooting championship was held at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range, Tughlakabad, New Delhi on 17th and 18th September 2016. Shirene Singh of class 12C won the Bronze medal in the 10m air pistol event in the youth category. She has earlier bagged the Silver medal in the 19th Delhi State Inter School Shooting Championship and the Bronze in the 1st Col. Jaswant Singh Memorial Shooting Competition. Shirene secured All India Rank 11 in the 19th All India Kumar Surendra Singh Inter School Shooting Championship.

 



Kanwar Ashish Under 7 Cricket Tournament 2016

The Kanwar Ashish Under 7 Cricket Tournament was held from 19 – 23 September 2016 in the school. Six DPS schools from Delhi took part in it. The Principal, Ms.Vanita Sehgal was present with the Head of Physical Education Department, Mr.N.Suresh, along with his team of teachers.

The final match on 23rd September was between 3 consecutive years winner, DPS Vasant Vihar vs DPS Mathura Road who reached the U -7 yrs Cricket final for the first time. The toss was won by DPS Vasant Vihar and they elected to field. DPS Mathura Road scored 48 runs for 6 wickets in 10 overs match. Kushagra scored 19 not out & Aditya Garg of Vasant Vihar claimed 2 wickets for 9 runs. Chasing the small target of 49, DPS Vasant Vihar won the Tournament by losing 5 wickets only. Aditya Garg scored 28 not out, Sakib of Mathura Road, bowled well and claimed 3 wickets.

32nd Delhi State Level Shooting Championship

Kriti Gupta of X-H participated in the 32st Delhi State Level Shooting Championship (Clay Pigeon Trap (Jr) Women Shotgun) held at Tughlaqabad Shooting Range (ISSF) from 14-23 August 2016.

Kriti won 2 Gold Medals in the Juniorr & Senior category. She was Ranked No.1, in the Junior & Senior at the Delhi State Level.



All India Inter-DPS Boys Chess Championship 2016

The All India Inter DPS Chess Boys Open Tournament was held at DPS Aligarh from 4-6th August 2016 , DPS R.K. Puram emerged as the overall second runners up in the championship.

Visit of Mr. Stephen Fleming

DPS R.K Puram had the proud privilege of a visit from Mr.Stephen Paul Fleming on 7 September 2016. Mr. Fleming is a former New Zealand cricketer, and captain in test and one-day cricket of the national cricket team. In July, 2014 Mr. Fleming, together with the New Zealand High Commissioner to India, Mr.Grahame Morton announced the New Zealand India Sports Scholarships to support Indian students interested in studying sports related programmes in New Zealand.

Upon his arrival the Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal, extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guest. The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp and felicitation of Mr. Fleming. The cultural programme began with a mesmerising classical dance performance by the dance team of the school depicting the nine emotions or ‘Navras’. Mr.Fleming conducted a short quiz about some interesting facts of New Zealand. The students surprised him with their knowledge of the country for which they were rewarded with gifts and autographed mugs.

Mr. Fleming addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of education. He emphasised on the need for proper planning and how New Zealand had a great future for higher studies. He shed light upon the various universities and different courses offered by the country. Of these universities, eight are ranked in the top 50 of the world. He told the audience how he began his journey with the goal of becoming a teacher. However, his path led him to become a professional cricketer for the New Zealand national team. He always put education and cricket on the same pedestal and is happy now as an ambassador of education for his country.

The students were given a taste of New Zealand when Mr. Fleming presented them with a kiwi fruit, which is the national fruit of New Zealand. Mr. Fleming also engaged in a personal interview with some of the students about his life and career.

The Vice Principal, Dr. Renu Nayar delivered the vote of thanks. The event was a tremendous success and a “fruitful” experience for all the students.
