MOTHERS’ DAY SPECIAL ASSEMBLY

“No language can express the power, beauty and heroism of a mother’s love.” Edwin Chapin

A special assembly on the occasion of Mother’s Day was organised on 14th May 2026 by the students of Class IX in the Audio Visual Hall of Delhi Public School RK Puram. The assembly was held to honour and celebrate mothers whose selfless devotion and tireless support form the foundation of our lives. The event was attended by the mothers of the students, who witnessed the love, gratitude and admiration their children expressed for them through the programme.

The event commenced with a soulful Sanskrit prayer expressing gratitude to the Almighty for the irreplaceable gift of a mother’s love, beautifully reflecting the thought that mothers are God’s presence in our lives. This was followed by a melodious Indian and Western instrumental performance — a captivating fusion of keyboards, tablas and violins — conveying love and heartfelt gratitude towards the women who shape and nurture our lives.

Thereafter, the programme continued with heartfelt poem recitations in German and French, accompanied by their English translations, beautifully conveying the universal and boundless nature of a mother’s love. This was followed by a soulful performance by the Indian choir, whose melodious blend of rhythm and harmony moved the audience deeply while celebrating the unwavering love, care and sacrifices of mothers.

The soulful choir performance was followed by a heartfelt Hindi skit based on Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar’s ‘सोने का ऋण’, which beautifully portrayed the profound influence of his mother, Bhagwati Devi, in shaping his compassion, humility and vision for social reform. The moving presentation highlighted how a mother’s love and values can inspire not only individual greatness but also positive change in society.

Thereafter, a captivating dance performance dedicated to celebrating the love, resilience, sacrifices and unwavering support of mothers was presented, which received a thunderous applause from the audience. This was followed by a heartwarming collage of photographs and a visual presentation that showcased the beautiful bond between mothers and their children, which deeply moved the audience and made them feel nostalgic.

The headmistress, Dr Anubha Gopal, during her address highlighted the incomparable bond between a mother and her child and congratulated all the students and participants for their heartfelt performances. In his address, the Principal, Mr Anil Kumar,  beautifully described love and mother as synonymous, and shared touching personal anecdotes about his own mother, highlighting how a mother’s simple words and care can bring comfort even in the most stressful moments. He also reflected upon the unconditional love and sacrifices of mothers.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks expressing gratitude towards all the teachers, students, participants, support staff and audience members, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem as a tribute to both our mothers and our motherland.
