The thematic presentation, The Great Ensemble – Unique Alone, Spectacular Together, brought alive the vibrant energy of a circus. It began with a hilarious mime act, followed by a Charlie Chaplin-inspired Broadway dance which captured the true essence of silent comedy through graceful movements. The Jokers then took over the stage and enthralled the audience with their wit and cheerfulness. The finale showcased the coming together of the ‘great ensemble’, the amalgamation of three unique styles which left the audience spellbound.
In his address, the Principal, Mr. Anil Kumar, lauded the students’ efforts and acknowledged the presence of the distinguished guests. The Principal shared a thought from his younger days, when he often wondered whether it is the team that makes a leader great, or the leader who makes the team great. Drawing from his life experiences, he elaborated that he had finally found the answer, that a true leader unites the team, leads by example and becomes the binding force that holds everyone together. He expressed his earnest hope that the members of the Student Council would carry forward the values imbibed at school and channel them into serving the nation. He also credited Shri V.K. Shunglu for being at the helm of affairs and inspiring excellence in DPS R.K. Puram.
In his address, the Chief Guest urged the students to uphold the values of responsibility, sincerity and teamwork in all their endeavours. He also reflected on the question, “What is DPS?”, highlighting the spirit of the DPS Family where, despite maintaining individuality, we must ultimately stand together as one united family.
The highlight of the day was the ceremony for the installation of the Student Council members. The oath was administered by the Chief Guest, with all members pledging to uphold the school’s motto, Service Before Self.
The members of the core council delivered heartfelt speeches, sharing their journey, experiences and the honour they felt in being chosen to represent the school. Their words resonated with sincerity, passion and a strong sense of duty. Many reminded the audience that “leadership isn’t about being born exceptional, it’s about turning small moments of doubt into motivation”. Others reflected that the “obstacles we dread are never as terrifying as we believe -with each step we take, we conquer not just the moment, but a part of ourselves.” In moving Hindi couplets, they reminded us that:
“यूँ ही नहीं मिलती राही को मंज़िल, दिल में एक जुनून सा जगाना होता है… उड़ान भरनी पड़ती है बार-बार, तिनका-तिनका उठाना होता है।”
The Vote of Thanks was proposed by the newly appointed Head Boy and Head Girl, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Guest, Shri V.K., Shunglu, the Guest of Honour, Smt. Madhu Shunglu, the Principal, Mr. Anil Kumar; the Vice Principals: Mr. Naresh Miglani, Mr. Anil Kathuria, and Mr. Mukesh Kumar; the Headmistresses: Ms. Rashmi Malhotra and Dr. Anubha Gopal, as well as the teachers, support staff, and parents for their unwavering support and encouragement.
