Delhi Public School R.K. Puram celebrated the 78th Independence Day on 15 August 2024.
The event commenced with the unfurling of the National flag by the Principal , Ms. Padma Srinivasan, which was followed by the national anthem. After a few hearty cheers of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Jai Hind’, a beautiful song was presented by two students of the Performing Arts Society that spoke of the beauty of sacrifice and instilled the audience with pride and respect for the nation.
This was followed by an address by the Principal , Ms. Padma Srinivasan, who highlighted the importance of national unity and looking beyond the various aspects that divide Indian society. She talked about the significance of equality among people and the value of sacrifice. She spoke of the great freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the people and that we must uphold their legacy and do our utmost to contribute to our nation’s rise. She concluded by providing the students with valuable advice to dedicate themselves to their studies and make our country proud.
The Vice Principal , Mr. Anil Kumar Kathuria, elaborated further on the principal’s concluding thoughts and spoke about the value of the contributions all of us make at an individual level for the progress of the nation. He inspired the students to put in their best efforts in their academics and uphold the core values of the country. As we celebrate the triumph of freedom, equality, and justice, let us uphold all the virtues embodied by the Tricolour and dedicate ourselves to making our country proud.
