On The Partition of India – Its Human Impact
The History Department of Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram organized a guest speaker programme on 4 June 2021 for the history students of class XII on the topic “The Partition of India – The Human Dimension” by Mr. Manav Kapur. He is a trained lawyer and now a historian. He also clerked in the Supreme court of India and is currently doing his PhD at Princeton. He is also a DPS alumnus.
The programme was extremely insightful and touched upon the entire partition history in a precise manner. Mr. Manav conceptualised the partition as more of a prolonged process rather than a single event. The lecture was followed by a series of meticulous and thought provoking questions, both by students and teachers which Mr. Manav took up one by one, answering each with immense patience and enthusiasm.
It was a gratifying experience for all the students, and even more so for Mr. Manav himself, as in his own words, “There is something wonderful about getting an opportunity to impart knowledge in the same institution, where one was once a student.” The event ended with a note of contentment for all those who were present.
