Guest Speaker Programme – Organised by the Geography Dept and Disaster Management Club

A Guest Speaker Programme was organised by the Geography dept and Disaster Management club of DPS RK Puram on the 2/8/17. Professor Rakhi Parijat, Associate Professor of Geography, Miranda House , University of Delhi was invited to address the students. She was welcomed by the Principal Ms Vanita Sehgal. There were three sessions. The first session was on Disaster Management and was conducted for Disaster management monitors of classes 8, 9, and 12 . The session started with an interactive session with the students. Prof Parijat informed the students about the different aspects of disaster management and its significance in our lives.
The following session was conducted for the geography students of class 11, on ‘Remote sensing and its application in GIS and GPS’, where she spoke about the field work and communication techniques that have evolved over time with the help of remote sensing technology and its significance in today’s life.

The last session was held for the geography students of class 12, where Dr. Parijat enlightened the students on ‘Human Environment Interactions’ – the concepts of physical geography,ecology and evolution of human beings and culture and their impact on nature .

The sessions were very interesting and interactive. Mrs Arti Trivedi , Mrs.Sangeeta Rana and Mrs.Niva Chhonkar from the Disaster Management team Of the school were also present. The coordinator of the program Mrs Rupa Das, Head of the department, Geography delivered the vote of thanks.
