On 22nd November 2016, a Guest Speaker Programme on ‘Public Speaking and Personality Development’ was organised for the students of Class VIII. Ms Shuilu Dar was the Guest Speaker for the day. Ms Dar has a Masters in Spanish. She was the Deputy General Manager for IBM Daksh Business Process services. She has been the Director HR at CPA Global Services. She has also been the Talent Acquisition Leader (South Asia) for E I Dupont India Pvt. Ltd. Currently, she is the founding partner of Nashrah- the Talent League, that focuses on leadership and global recruitment.
Ms Dar began by getting the students to speak about what public speaking means to them. She went on to combine anecdotes from her own life with similarities between school and the corporate world. She spoke about the importance of self awareness and originality. ‘Good Personality Characteristics’, ‘The Nine Types of Personalities’ and ‘How to make people like you’ were some of the things she spoke about.
The students actively and enthusiastically participated, expressing their views on what Ms Dar spoke about, answering her questions and also giving their interpretation of what they learnt. All in all, the event was a success, and every student had something to take back home and ponder over.
