“Young men like him should live, not only for us, but for the good of the country” – Dr. Majid Khan (G. Bhaskar’s Math Teacher)
The G. Bhaskar Memorial Lecture and Award Ceremony was organised on 19 December 2025 at Delhi Public School R.K. Puram in remembrance of G. Bhaskar, a very promising student, who joined the institution in class VIII. Lost in the crowd initially, Venkata Subramaniam Bhaskar gradually captivated the hearts of his fellow students and teachers. A remarkable and hardworking scholar, he was also a great badminton player and played for the school table tennis team. He had formal training in Classical Carnatic music and could recite several chapters from Shrimad Bhagavad Gita. Unfortunately, his success ended with his early demise. In his memory, DPS R.K. Puram has been organising an inspiring lecture since 1995 in presence of his family and friends in hope of sharing his story with a wider audience. Since 1999, an award has been instituted in his loving memory by his parents and is given to exceptional students, who not only excel in academics and co-curricular activities but also display a strong moral fibre and possess humane feelings for all, just like G. Bhaskar.
The event this year was graced by the Chief Guest, Shree Brahmachari Soham Chaitanya. The Vice Principals: Mr. Naresh Miglani and Mr. Mukesh Kumar were present along with Mr. G. Ramnath , brother of G. Bhaskar, along with one of his closest friends.
Shree Brahmachari Soham Chaitanya from the Chinmaya Mission was invited as the Chief Guest and guest speaker for the memorial. An engineer by training, Soham ji worked as a research engineer in Colorado after completing his Master’s degree from UC Berkeley. His exposure to Satsangs by revered Swamins from a young age introduced him to spirituality early in life.
During his Lecture, he enlightened the gathering with his profound insight into the Bhagavad Gita, eloquently explaining the relevance of its four core teachings in contemporary times.
Professor G. Ramnath, elder brother of G. Bhaskar, briefly expanded on Sri Soham ji’s reflections, highlighting India’s rich heritage as a priceless gift often taken for granted. This was followed by a heartfelt, impromptu address by one of G. Bhaskar’s close friends, who fondly reminisced about and celebrated the enduring spirit of DPS R.K. Puram.
