“Fire safety is everyone’s responsibility.”
As an initiative to train students on disaster preparedness, the Department of Geography organised a “Fire Awareness Demonstration” for the students of class IX on 11th February, 2026 in the open premises of the assembly ground. The team from Delhi Fire Services viz. Mr. Raj Rao, Mr. Pardeep, Mr. Rajesh, Mr. Hariom & Mr. Anil came as the resource person for the session. Mr Anil Kathuria and Ms Rashmi Malhotra, the Vice Principals presided over the event. The team also met our esteemed Principal Mr. Anil Kumar.
The main objective of the mock drill was to generate awareness among class IX students towards fire safety & the preventive measures associated with fire hazards. Mr. Pardeep interacted with students during the mock drill by discussing the nature of fire, causes of fire hazard, and ways of extinguishing different types of fires. He emphasized on the prevention of fire hazard.
The fire service team demonstrated the live working of the ‘ABC’ fire extinguishers in which they involved both security personnel & students.The code word used for operating a fire extinguisher was PASS: Pin removal, aiming at the base, squeeze the lever & spray with sharp ejection.
Class A fires, which involve ordinary combustibles like wood, paper, and cloth. Class B fires, which are fueled by flammable liquids such as gasoline, oil, and grease. Class C fires, which involve energized electrical equipment. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms Sangita Bajpai, coordinator of the Department of Geography. The session was initiated by Ms. Deeksha Gupta from the Disaster Management Club with ample support from Ms. Mahima Goel, Ms. Swati Uppal, Ms. Meera Raghav & Ms. Divya Kumari.
