Festival della Scienza 5.0 – Speciale IA (Artificial Intelligence) 2026

“The best way to predict the future is to invent it.” – Alan Kay

In an era where Artificial Intelligence is transforming learning, creativity and problem-solving, DPS R.K. Puram celebrated innovation through Festival della Scienza 5.0 – Speciale IA (Artificial Intelligence), an Inter-School Science Festival held on 18 July 2026. Bringing together students of Classes VI to XII, from 22 schools across Delhi NCR, the festival provided a dynamic platform to showcase scientific knowledge, creativity and innovation. Centred on the theme “Artificial Intelligence: Shaping the Future through Science and Innovation,” the event encouraged participants to explore AI’s role across scientific disciplines while fostering critical thinking, collaboration, ethical awareness and responsible innovation.

A wide range of engaging competitions was organised for students across different classes. The event was enriched by the presence of some luminaries from the field of academics like Dr. Nimish Joseph, Professor of Practice (Information Systems and AI), St. Stephen’s College, New Delhi; Dr.  Dileswar Nayak, Associate Professor, School of Environmental Sciences, JNU; Mr. Kameswara Sharma, Associate Professor, Sri Venkateswara College; Dr. Rakhi Narang, Associate Professor; Sri Venkateswara College; and Dr. Anil Kumar, Associate Professor Venkateswara College; who judged the various events.

Students of Class VI participated in “Quiz di Scienza”, a comprehensive science quiz covering various branches of science, which strengthened their conceptual understanding, analytical thinking, and quick decision-making skills. Participants from Class VII engaged in “Giochi di Scienza”, where scientific concepts, principles, theories, and laws were presented through innovative educational games, making learning interactive while nurturing teamwork, logical reasoning, and scientific curiosity.

Students of Class VIII captivated the audience through thought-provoking role plays that illustrated the role of Artificial Intelligence in modern gadgets and everyday life, enhancing their communication skills and awareness of AI’s growing societal impact. Participants from Class IX demonstrated scientific concepts from their curriculum with the support of AI in the event “Dimostra il concetto con l’IA” (Demonstrate the Concept with AI), effectively connecting theoretical knowledge with practical applications while strengthening their presentation and technological skills. Students of Class X competed in “Scienza e IA” through model-making and live demonstrations that showcased the integration of Science and Artificial Intelligence, encouraging scientific temper and the ability to devise practical solutions to real-world challenges.

Senior Secondary students presented their innovative ideas through subject-specific competitions. Physics participants explored the theme “AI in Physics: Shaping a Smarter, Greener Future,” demonstrating a deeper understanding of sustainable technologies and the transformative role of AI in scientific advancement. Chemistry students participated in “Concorso Ads-Act” by designing compelling advertisements for chemical products using AI, blending scientific knowledge with creativity, persuasive communication, and digital literacy. Biology participants presented their vision of “Future Innovations in Biology using AI,” reflecting originality, scientific imagination, and an appreciation of AI’s immense potential in advancing biological research and healthcare.

The event culminated in a vibrant felicitation ceremony . A specially curated video presentation showcased highlights from the various competitions, featuring photographs and memorable moments from across all categories. Adding to the celebratory atmosphere, the winning team from different categories were invited to present their winning entries on stage, giving the audience an opportunity to witness the exceptional talent, originality, and scientific acumen displayed throughout the event. The gathering was further enriched by an inspiring address delivered by the Chief Guest, Ms. Krithika Rangarajan, a distinguished alumna of DPS R.K. Puram and an accomplished Oncoradiologist, researcher, and Assistant Professor at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. Renowned for her pioneering work at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, data science, and healthcare, Ms. Rangarajan shared insights from her professional journey and highlighted the transformative potential of technology when guided by empathy and purpose. Reflecting on her own experiences, she encouraged students to remain curious, embrace lifelong learning, and harness innovation responsibly to create meaningful impact in society.

This was followed by an insightful address by Vice Principal Shri Mukesh Kumar, who emphasised the importance of maintaining a balanced approach towards Artificial Intelligence. He reminded students that while AI is a powerful tool capable of enhancing learning and productivity, it should not replace human creativity, critical thinking, and originality. He encouraged participants to use AI as an aid rather than a substitute, highlighting the need to verify information, think independently, and continue nurturing their own innovative capabilities. He further expressed his gratitude to the Principal for his constant encouragement. He applauded the Department Heads: Ms. Niva Chonkar (Biology Dept), Mr. Md. Manirul Hossain (Physics Dept) and Ms. Anju Sachdeva( Chemistry Dept), for their synergistic coordination, and the faculty for their hard work, and the participants for making the event a grand success.

The ceremony concluded with the announcement of results and the distribution of prizes. The winners were as follows:
