Earth Day Celebrations

Earth Day, a day designed to create awareness about the Earth was celebrated at DPS, R.K.Puram with great enthusiasm on 23rd April 2013.

Earth Day celebrations started with a Special Assembly. The programme included a skit, ‘Let us mend our ways before it is too late’ by our students ,two dance performances ‘Agony of mother Earth’ and ‘A salute to Mother Earth’, Videos on Global Warming and what we can do to save the Earth were shown. The environment magazine, ‘Terravision’ was released by the Environment & I Club. The assembly concluded with a special pledge taken by the students and teachers, vowing to accept and fulfill their responsibilities towards Planet Earth. In the concluding speech, the Principal,Dr. D.R.Saini reminded the students of the importance of the Earth in their lives, and their responsibility to preserve and protect it.

An Exhibition of eco-friendly models was also inaugurated. Children provided innovative solutions to the problem of pollution through their models. The best entries of T- shirt Painting, Slogan Writing, SMS Writing, Rangoli and Photography Competitions were also displayed in the Senior Biology Lab.

A Sapling Plantation Drive was carried out in the school premises by the students and teachers along with the Principal ,Dr D.R.Saini, ,the Vice Principal,Ms Shobha Mehta; Headmistresses, Ms Vanita Sehgal and Ms Anita Singh; the Head of the Biology Department,Mr S.K.Arora; Ms Gita Panday and Ms Ranjana Singh from Hope Hall Foundation School and Ms Niva Chhonkar, the Incharge of the Environment Club at DPS.R.K.Puram .
