“It is better to debate a question without settling it than to settle a question without debating it.” – Joseph Joubert
Delhi Public School R.K. Puram, under the aegis of the Delhi Public School Society, hosted the Inter-DPS Debate Competition, Debatrix 2026–27, on 17 October 2026. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from 99 schools across the country in the preliminary online round, with 25 schools qualifying for the offline event. The on-site competition commenced with Eloquence, an intellectually stimulating round featuring thought-provoking motions spanning diverse themes from Artificial Intelligence to Ecology. The participants’ stances were determined through a lucky draw on the spot, adding an element of suspense and spontaneity to the proceedings. The round tested their ability to think critically, articulate ideas coherently and defend their viewpoints with conviction.
Six teams advanced to the final round, Face Off, where they were presented with the motion on the spot and given just one hour to prepare their arguments. Rising to the challenge with remarkable confidence, the debaters demonstrated incisive reasoning, compelling arguments and astute rebuttals, making the final an engaging battle of intellect and articulation.
The valedictory ceremony commenced with the arrival of the Chief Guest, Ms Dolly Chanana, Director, Delhi Public School Society. A soulful Western choir performance set the tone for the occasion, celebrating the power of music to transcend linguistic barriers and unite hearts. Addressing the gathering, the Principal, Mr Anil Kumar, emphasised that differing opinions need not culminate in conflict, rather, meaningful dialogue begins with the willingness to listen. He reflected on how debate stimulates questions, nurtures inquiry and cultivates thought, courage and clarity, empowering individuals to make a meaningful impact on the world. He encouraged the participants to remain curious, question assumptions and continue thinking independently.
The cultural programme featured a captivating blindfolded dance performance, symbolising faith, resilience and the strength of the human spirit, followed by a vibrant presentation celebrating the timeless charm of Charlie Chaplin. A video montage capturing the highlights of the day rekindled memorable moments from the competition, after which selected debaters shared their perspectives on the motions deliberated upon.
In her address, the Chief Guest, Ms Dolly Chanana, commended the school for its exemplary leadership and commitment to nurturing young minds. Her interaction with the participants offered them an opportunity to reflect on their experiences and share how the competition had enriched their debating journeys. The much-anticipated award ceremony celebrated the participants’ eloquence, intellectual rigour and spirit of healthy competition.
