Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram hosted a CBSE Capacity Building Workshop on the theme “Educating Parents about Education” on Saturday, 13 December 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The workshop was conducted in the Seminar Room, Blossom Block and witnessed active participation from teachers of the Chemistry Department, Hindi, Sanskrit, French, German and Spanish departments, along with the members of the Performing Arts Department.
The workshop aimed at empowering teachers with strategies to engage parents as informed partners in the educational journey of students, in alignment with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The sessions were conducted by two eminent resource persons. Dr. Mudita Yada , from the Inclusive Education Department, Delhi, an Educational Counsellor and Special Educator, drew upon her extensive experience of working with children and young people facing learning and participation challenges, offering practical and empathetic solutions. The second resource person, Dr. Shakuntala Rathore, PGT Economics and Ph.D., enriched the sessions with her invaluable insights. In appreciation of their valuable contributions and engaging sessions, the resource persons were felicitated by the Vice Principal, Mr. Mukesh Kumar.
The workshop commenced with an Introduction, setting the context for the evolving role of parents in contemporary education. It was followed by Module 1 focusing on Paradigm Shift in Education highlighted changes in teaching–learning processes, learner-centric education, and the growing emphasis on holistic development.
Module 2 underlined Assessment Reforms focused on competency-based assessment, formative evaluation, and the shift away from rote learning, enabling teachers to better communicate assessment changes to parents. Module 3 titled, Know Your Child, sensitised teachers to the emotional, social, and cognitive needs of learners, underlining the importance of empathy and understanding in parent–teacher collaboration.
The workshop concluded with Module 4 focusing on Career Counselling and Career Opportunities, which provided insights into emerging career paths, informed decision-making, and the role of parents in guiding students without imposing undue pressure.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks and a group photograph of all the participants, the resource persons and the Vice Principal, Mr. Mukesh Kumar.
The workshop proved to be highly interactive and enriching, equipping teachers with practical tools and perspectives to strengthen parent engagement. It reaffirmed DPS R.K. Puram’s commitment to continuous professional development and to fostering a supportive, informed, and inclusive educational ecosystem.
