CBSE Capacity Building Programme on Life Skills

Delhi Public School organised a ‘Capacity Building Programme on Life Skills’ in collaboration with CBSE on 12 January 2019, from 9.00 am -4.30 pm. The Programme was attended by the teachers of the Junior Schools (DPS, EOK & DPS, VV), Middle School (DPS, R.K PURAM), Headmistresses of East of Kailash, Vasant Vihar, R.K Puram and the Vice Principal of DPS, R.K Puram. The CBSE Resource Persons for the workshop were Mrs.Shashi Banerjee and Mrs. Neeta Rastogi.

The workshop started with the Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal, reminding the participating teachers of the importance and need for a Life Skills workshop. She reiterated that as teachers it is important that the practice of life skills is reflected in the day to day conduct of classroom sessions and while interacting with the students in general. The Resource Persons then carried on with the agenda of the day where teachers were divided into groups and each group was asked to give itself a name. The names for the various groups ranged from NIKE-the Goddess of Strength to Kalam Ki Talwar.  Some of the other names were Chashme Baddur, Vibgyor, Water, Essentials and Key.

The workshop was divided into four sessions namely Perspective Building in Life Skills (Session1), Transacting Life Skills (Session 2), Familiarization with Life Skills through Activities(Session 3) and Assessment of Life Skills (Session 4).The entire workshop was conducted in an interactive manner were each teacher participant shared her views/opinion on a given situation. It was absolutely an engaging time when Role Plays were put up, where each group had something unique to present. The group members were working as a cohesive unit were brainstorming, critical thinking, interpersonal skills, empathy, appreciation for each other and many other attributes of practical Life Skills were put into perspective before the presentation by each group.

The day-long Capacity Building Programme ended with the Certificate Presentation by the Principal, Vice Principal and Headmistresses of the respective Junior and Middle schools.

The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Ms. Rashmi Malhotra, Headmistress, DPS, R.K Puram.
