A Capacity Building Programme on ‘Value Education’ was organized on 2 February 2019, from 9.00am – 4.30 pm, which was attended by seventy teachers comprising the Primary and Senior Secondary School of DPS, R.K Puram.
The programme began with the felicitation of the CBSE Resource Persons, Dr.R.D Mohan and Mr.Pankaj Munjal, followed by the Welcome Address of the Principal, Ms.Vanita Sehgal, where she underlined the importance of values and their application as a necessity for a meaningful and successful life.
The workshop explored the understanding of values at the Individual Level, Interpersonal Level, Community Level, National Level, and Global Level. It also brought out the CBSE’s vision of Value Education which is to make classrooms and teachers as havens of education with the prime objective of providing a safe place to children so that they can express themselves, learn certain forms of interactions, resolve conflicts mutually. At the same time, schools and classrooms should be spaces for discussing the process of decision making, questioning the basis of their decisions and for the premaking informed choices. The entire workshop was conducted in an interactive manner where each participant was encouraged to share the viewpoint/opinion pertaining to a particular value, their experience of integrating certain core values in their respective subjects in a classroom situation.
The one-day Capacity Building Programme on Value Education ended with the Vote of Thanks and distribution of certificates to all the participant teachers.
