ART POETICA 2024-2025

Delhi Public School R.K. Puram hosted the Dr. Prem Kirpal Memorial Inter-School Art And Poetry Competitions -‘Art Poetica 2024-2025’ on 11 January 2025, in fond memory of Dr. Prem Kirpal, the former Chairman of the DPS Society. This annual event had students from twenty six different schools take part in six different competitions, all of which gave them an opportunity to showcase their immense creativity and explore different forms of artistic expression whilst unraveling the fascinating enigma surrounding art and poetry. 

The various competitions included the following- 

Blend Art (Classes IX and XI)  had students recite and dramatise an English poem based on various social issues and themes, as well as create paintings or sketches that captured the soul of the poem. The event was judged by Ms Saba Bari, Ms Padmaja Behra and Mr Manish Manocha

 

Artistic Poesy (Classes IX and XI) challenged the students to promptly compose a ballad that connected a series of pictures, which were presented to them, in a random order. The event was judged by Dr Shwetanshu Bhushan, Ms. Anupama Singh and Ms. Shivangi Chakraborty

 

Lyrical Canvas (Classes IX & XI) was an on-the-spot drawing competition which required participants to portray the predominant emotion evoked by a unique line in a poem. The judges included Mr Pankaj Guru, Mr Shashi Paul and Ms Hena.

 

Inverse Rhapsody (Classes VI-VIII) was an imaginative competition where participants were given an excerpt from a poem and the participants from the same team were given the task to recite the given poem in contrasting emotions . The judges for the event were Ms Sunayana Gupta, Ms Saroj Chawla and Ms Esha Shaunik.

 

Stage-a-Verse (Classes IX and XI) involved a unique performance by the students of class IX and XI, where they staged an original play based on a visual prompt provided to them. The event was judged by Mr Manish Guptaa Guru, Ms Garima Arya and Mr Brij Bhardwaj.

 

Lime-in-Rhyme (Classes VI-VIII) celebrated the art of limerick writing by giving students the opportunity to write limericks in a time frame of thirty minutes and then perform a live on-stage recital. The judges for the competition included Mr Harsh Dewan, Ms Alka Mahajan and Mr Ishan Bakshi. 

 

The events took place simultaneously at different venues in the school campus. 

The Valedictory ceremony was organised on 8 February 2025 at Delhi Public School, R.K.Puram from 9 am onwards. The event was graced by the presence of the Principal Mr Anil Kumar and the Headmistress Ms Rashmi Malhotra.

The event began with a glorious performance of the  song ‘I have a dream’. This was followed by an enthralling enactment of the world’s longest running play, ‘The Mousetrap’ by Agatha Christie, a renowned mystery writer, presented by members of the Expressions Theatre Club. They received a standing ovation for their theatrical  performance.

 

In his address, the Principal, Mr Anil Kumar, complimented the members of the Expressions Theatre Club for their excellent rendition of the play. He also congratulated all the students who won prizes in the various events of Art Poetics  as well as those who helped organise the events. He commended the English department for their efforts in promoting literary creativity and expressions through this annual event. 

 

This was followed by the felicitation of the prize winners.The Rolling Trophy was awarded to Delhi Public School, Noida.

 

Ms Atika Dayal, HOD English, proposed the vote of thanks. She expressed gratitude towards  the Principal, Mr Anil Kumar, for being a source of inspiration, and providing constant support and guidance at all crucial junctures. The participants and the winners were congratulated for their outstanding performances, and encouraged to keep striving and pushing boundaries. The HOD also thanked the members of the English, Art and Music Departments for helping to put up a successful ceremony.

The event ended with the rendition of the National Anthem.
