Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram hosted Abhivyakti 2025, the annual inter-school Art and Performing Arts Festival, on Saturday, 8 November 2025. The event was a vibrant celebration of creativity, culture, and expression, witnessing enthusiastic participation from 22 schools across North India. A wide array of contests—ranging from pot painting, collage making, and Madhubani art to soulful music and dance performances—captured the essence of imaginative expression. Students from various classes participated with great zeal, showcasing unique ideas, cultural insight, and exceptional artistic talent.
‘Abhivyakti’ comprised seven events that highlighted the diverse artistic traditions of India.

‘Swar Tarang’: Folk Group Song
Swar Tarang was an online pre-recorded competition. It was a tribute to the rich and diverse musical traditions of our country. Each team came together in harmony and rhythm, showcasing the timeless beauty of Indian classical and folk instruments. The judges evaluated the participants on the basis of sur, taal, variation, creativity and originality.
OFFLINE EVENTS
Naada-Swaram: Indian Orchestra Competition
‘Naada-Swaram’ was a celebration of India’s rich and soulful musical heritage. This orchestra competition invited young musicians to showcase the power of Indian instruments, creating rhythm and resonance that echo the timeless spirit of our culture. The participants were judged on the basis of intonation, synchronization, rhythm, creativity and originality.
‘Dynamics’: Battle of the Bands – Inter School Band Competition
Dynamics was an electrifying inter-school band competition for the students of Classes VI to XII, to showcase their musical talents, and compete against the best school bands across the city. Each participating band consisted of up to 6 students, including 2 vocalists. The judgement criteria included vocal performance, instrumental skills, stage presence and coordination.
‘Nritya Sangam’: Inter School Group Dance Competition
‘Nritya Sangam’ was a vibrant tribute to India’s rich cultural heritage that spoke of tradition and unity. The young performers explored the rhythmic beauty and storytelling power of Indian folk dances. The judges evaluated the participants on the basis of rhythm, authenticity of folk form, expressions and choreography.
‘Vibrant India’: Celebrating our Parampara (Madhubani Painting)
‘Vibrant India: Celebrating Our Parampara’ was a tribute to the enduring spirit of unity, resilience and artistic brilliance that Indian folk crafts encompass. Through the medium of art, this competition encouraged young artists to delve into the heart of India’s cultural legacy and inspired a deeper appreciation for the timeless values and customs of Madhubani painting that define our identity. The participants were judged on the basis of creative thinking, research, relevance to the theme and aesthetic appeal.
‘Faces of Freedom’: Collage Making
‘Faces of Freedom’ was an art competition for Classes IX-XII that offered a canvas for the participants to creatively express India’s rich heritage—celebrating legendary leaders, cultural symbols and unsung everyday heroes. The judgement criteria included research, execution, relevance to the theme and aesthetic appeal.
‘Designs of Bharat’: Inter School Pot Painting Competition
‘Designs of Bharat’ was an art competition for Classes VI-VII. The competition was a celebration of India’s artistic heritage and cultural designs such as mandalas, alpana, henna patterns, and tribal motifs. The participants brought out not only intricate forms of the art, but also embodied the deep spiritual, cultural, and regional meanings. The judges evaluated the participants on the basis of creative thinking, research, skill, relevance to the theme and aesthetic appeal.
The valedictory ceremony of Abhivyakti 2025 began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the honoured guests: Ms. Stephanie Orfila – Attachée for Cooperation in Education at the Institut Français, Embassy of France in India; Mr Sanjeev Bikhchandani – founder of Info Edge India Ltd; Dr. Rajram Yadav – the Deputy General Manager at the Delhi Metro and Guest Faculty at the Central Translation Bureau; Ms. Gaurie Dwivedi – journalist, author and classical dancer; along with the Principal, Mr. Anil Kumar; the Vice Principal, Ms. Rashmi Malhotra and the Headmistress, Dr Anubha Gopal. It was followed by a presentation of a melodious French song by the students, after which a vibrant Spanish dance performance showcased the global ethos of the fest, captivating the audience with its energy and elegance. An Indian folk song was also presented by the school choir.
The Principal, Mr Anil Kumar, addressed the gathering, appreciating the talent displayed by all the participants. He highlighted the need for curiosity and the spirit of enquiry in students of all ages, affirming that DPS R.K. Puram continually nurtures these qualities through dedication and divine grace. He urged students to make the most of opportunities to learn from stalwarts and remain resilient. He also congratulated all the participants and thanked the Vice Principals and Headmistress for their tireless efforts.
Ms. Stephanie Orfila, Attachée for Cooperation in Education at the Institut Français, Embassy of France in India, praised the outstanding performances she witnessed during the event. She also highlighted how multilingualism expands horizons and builds bridges across cultures. Mr. Sanjeev Bikhchandani, founder of Info Edge India Ltd, reflected on his association with the school and stressed on inculcating in students the values of commitment, curiosity, good company and giving back to the community.
The winners of the various events were announced thereafter. They were invited to the stage and felicitated. Delhi Public School R.K. Puram and Delhi Public School, Noida were declared the overall winners.
The ceremony drew to a graceful close with the National Anthem, marking the end of yet another successful edition of Abhivyakti—an event that continues to fuel imagination, celebrate diversity and inspire young performers to reach greater heights.
