The Department of Geography, DPS R.K. Puram, organised an educational visit to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Lodhi Road, on 30th October 2025. Geography students of Classes XI and XII, accompanied by their teachers Ms. Sangita Bajpai and Ms. Swati Uppal, were guided by Mr. Raju, who took them through various sections—from the observatory site to the satellite monitoring room.
Students were introduced to several fascinating instruments and concepts, including the Doppler Weather Radar, Stevenson Screen, thermographs, hygrographs, the Earth Station, and sensors used to measure temperature and humidity. They also gained insights into cumulonimbus clouds, different types of satellites, ozone, and particulate matter (PM).
The visit was marked by learning, curiosity, and moments of joy, all within the serene and green environment of the IMD campus. The experience helped students connect classroom theories with real-world applications. As senior learners, they explored advanced topics, asked insightful questions, and revisited fundamental concepts with renewed interest.
Overall, it was an enriching and inspiring experience—an engaging blend of education and exploration, truly a day where theory met reality.
