Historical and Educational Trip to France and Germany

An educational trip to France and Germany was organized by Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram from October 2 to October 6, 2025, as part of the school’s ongoing endeavour to promote experiential learning through direct exposure to world history and culture.

The journey commenced in Paris, where students explored the city’s rich historical legacy through the Paris Nazi History Tour. The tour provided valuable insights into France’s experiences during the Second World War. The students visited several significant sites associated with the Nazi occupation:

  1. Hôtel Meurice – Headquarters of Commandant Gross Paris
  2. Place Vendôme (Hôtel Ritz) – Headquarters of the Luftwaffe
  3. Concorde Square (Hôtel Crillon) – Site of the Feldgendarmerie Court and Kommandantur
  4. Hôtel Majestic, Avenue Kléber – Headquarters of the MBF (Militärbefehlshaber in Frankreich)
  5. Arc de Triomphe and Avenue des Champs-Élysées – Centre of wartime propaganda and student resistance
  6. 93 Rue Lauriston – Headquarters of the Gestapo in Paris
  7. Memorial for Deported Children – Dedicated to the young victims of the Nazi occupation
  8. Memorial for Deported Victims – Honouring the 200,000 French victims deported to Nazi camps

The day concluded with a visit to the Eiffel Tower, an enduring symbol of human creativity and innovation, followed by a serene Seine River Cruise, which offered a breathtaking view of Paris’s architectural splendour illuminated at night.

The next day was devoted to the creative and modern side of France, with an excursion to Disneyland Paris, where students experienced joy, imagination, and teamwork in a vibrant and magical atmosphere.

On the third day, students explored France’s royal and artistic heritage. The group visited the Palace of Versailles, where they witnessed the grandeur of the French monarchy and reflected on the origins of the French Revolution. Later, a guided tour of the Louvre Museum provided an opportunity to admire world-renowned masterpieces such as Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo, deepening their appreciation for art and history.

The following morning, the group travelled by train to Munich, Germany, where a guided city tour familiarised them with the country’s cultural and historical significance. The final day was marked by a solemn visit to the Dachau Concentration Camp, where students reflected on the harsh realities of the Holocaust—an experience that left a lasting impact and reinforced the universal values of peace, compassion, and human dignity.

Overall, the trip proved to be a memorable and transformative learning experience, successfully combining recreation with education. It not only deepened students’ understanding of global history and culture but also inspired in them a sense of empathy and appreciation for the values that uphold humanity.
