School Innovation Marathon 2024

CardiTect represented by Akshita Mangal of class XII K of Delhi Public School R.K. Puram was selected as one of the winners of the School Innovation Marathon 2024-25 and received funding support to develop their product. This was a national-level competition organised by The Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog and Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC), AICTE. They envisioned it as India’s largest school innovation challenge and encouraged students from all over the country to participate in it by identifying community problems of their choice and developing innovative solutions in the form of working prototypes. 

CardiTect is a novel, no-cost tool for early risk assessment of pediatric cardiovascular health. It uses a gamified approach to detect cognitive impairments associated with heart health, making the screening process both engaging for children and clinically effective. 

CardiTect was chosen as one of the winners for this competition and was invited to present their innovation at the National NEP Week Exhibition 2025 (28th-31st July 2025) which was held at Galgotia’s University and at Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam 2025 on 29th July 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Madan which was to be graced by the Honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. The event included government officials from the Ministry of Education such as Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Honourable Minister of Education, Government of India; Shri Ashish Sood, Minister, Government of NCT Delhi; Dr Elangovan Kariappan, Assistant Director, Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell among many others. The participants were also invited to IIT Delhi to attend a session on innovative practices and ideas for furthering the cause of inclusion in society.

The Principal, Mr Anil Kumar encouraged this initiative along with guidance and support from Ms Rashmi Malhotra, Headmistress Class IX-X. The Teacher Mentor for this programme was Ms Sudeepta Chatterjee. The process was exhaustive and started from 27 August 2024 which involved informing students, identifying teams and then encouraging them to complete all the necessary tasks mandated on the website which included completion of student workbook, creating relevant videos and showcasing of innovative ideas which were finally uploaded on the official website by 30 November 2024. 

A total of 13 teams which included 32 students were able to successfully complete all the necessary formalities. Two of the teams were shortlisted for Round 2 i.e.the E- Pitching Round. Team CardiTect (CID13790) comprising of Akshita MangalXI I and Arshia Virmani XII I (2023-24 batch) along with Team Neer-Rakshak (CID33328) represented by Mannat Kaur XII E (2023-24 batch) and Prabansh Singh X D were shortlisted from the school and received certificates for being selected as the ‘Top 1000 Ideas’. CardiTect was adjudged the winner of the National Level School Innovation Marathon 2024 which was one of the 27 teams shortlisted from all over the country out of lakhs of entries which makes it one of the most coveted achievements of the school.
