Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram hosted the Class XI Scholar Badge Ceremony for the academic year of 2023-2024 on 21 January 2024 in the Audio-Visual Hall (AVH) to celebrate the academic excellence and co curricular achievements of the students.
The ceremony commenced with the auspicious lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the esteemed Chief guest, Ms. Veditha Reddy, IAS, Director of Education, Delhi; the Principal, Mr. Anil Kumar, the Vice Principals: Mr. Naresh Miglani, Mr. Anil Kathuria and Mr. Mukesh Kumar and the Headmistresses Ms Rashmi Malhota and Dr Anubha Gopal. The melodious notes of the Indian Choir filled the air, delivering a captivating performance that enthralled the audience. A short movie was presented with pride showcasing the school’s numerous accomplishments, planned events, scholarships and accolades.This was followed by an Indian classical dance performance which mesmerised the audience.The dance recital was a stunning blend of various Indian classical dance styles unveiling India’s vibrant cultural heritage.
The much awaited scholar badge ceremony was conducted by the representatives of class XI: Ms. Abha Chona, Ms. Kusum Yadav, and Dr. Himanshu Bedi. A total of 229 Blue Ties and 231 Blue Blazers, 1 Blue Badge, 80 Green badges (2nd), 98 Green Badges (1st), 4 Red blazers, 18 Red ties, 37 Red pins, 2 Gold Medals for 100% attendance and 60 Certificates for co-curricular excellence were awarded to students as a token of appreciation of their meritorious performances in both scholastic and co- scholastic activities over the past year. Some special awards such as The Prantik Roy Memorial Award and The Jayvant Ishwaran Award for Excellence were also awarded to some students. The Prantik Roy Memorial Award, initiated by Mr and Mrs Roy Choudhary to pay homage to their son Prantik, was presented to the All Rounder students of class X, H Jatin Vikash and Aarush Gulati. The Jayvant Ishwaran Award for Excellence instituted by Shri Ishwaran and Mrs Gauri Ishwaran, former English Teacher at Delhi Public School, RK Puram in memory of their son Jayvant, former Head Boy of the school, was conferred upon Puja Dey and Shravya Kumar.
The Principal, Mr. Anil Kumar, inspired by Jim Collins, shared three keys to success while expressing appreciation for the students’ accolades. He emphasized that success requires genuine passion as the first element, followed by dedicated effort and consistent hours. The third crucial component, he explained, was treating the pursuit as one’s “bread and butter” – a fundamental part of life that many overlook. Concluding his address, he expressed how fortunate and blessed he felt to witness the students’ success, which he attributed to their embodiment of all three essential principles.
The Chief guest, Ms. Veditha Reddy, IAS, Director of Education, Delhi delivered a heartfelt address. She congratulated all the students who received the award and commended the strong parental presence. She emphasized upon the vital role of teachers and parents in supporting the students’ academic journey. She addressed the challenges of transitioning to Class XI, highlighting upon the increased expectations and potential demotivation among the students. She also emphasized on the importance of recognizing each child’s uniqueness rather than making comparisons. She ended her address by encouraging the students to pursue their own dreams and goals.
The Vice Principal, Mr. Anil Kathuria, proposed the vote of thanks. The ceremony concluded with the rendition of the National Anthem.
