“There is no wifi in the forest, but i promise, you will find a better connection”
The Department of Geography, Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram organised an excursion to Aravalli Biodiversity Park, Gurgaon on 19 December, 2024 for the students of Class XI. The event was coordinated by Ms Sangita Bajpai.
The informative excursion began with Mr Vijay Dhasmana, an environmentalist and rewilder, providing an insight on preserving biodiversity. The illegal mining site has been successfully restored with indigenous flora and fauna of the Northern Aravalli region. The Aravalli Hills are said to be prehistoric with rich biodiversity. The park spreads over 400 acres, comprising a wide range of animal species such as jackals, foxes, neelgai, squirrels, hare, mongoose, monitor lizards and 60 varieties of butterflies and flora including Gurmaar, Haarshringaar, Babool, salai , Kulu etc. The students witnessed a variety of birds like Bulbul, Barbett, Rufus Treepie, Sunbird,Babblers, peacock. Birds like Verditer Flycatcher, Red Throated Flycatcher, Himalayan Warblers migrate here every year during winters. The students were encouraged by Dr Sharad Bajpai, the project director of the Aravalli Biodiversity Park to partake in the conservation of nature and act
It took a walk amongst the trees for their textbooks to spring to life.
