With the onset of the summer vacation, Delhi Public School R.K. Puram organised a series of fun-filled and enjoyable Summer Delight Activities. Under the able guidance of the esteemed Principal, Ms Padma Srinivasan and initiated and supported by the Supervisor of Classes VI-VIII, Ms Vinita Gupta, the activities comprised of Virtual Intersection Competitions titled ‘Chillax – It is Summer Vacation Time’ for the students of Classes VI-VIII. The activities aimed to promote the creative interests of the students and encourage a competitive sporting spirit among them.
Keeping in mind the unique interests of the students, different competitions spanning a variety of topics and themes were conducted on 20, 23 and 24 May 2022. This three-day fiesta of intersection virtual competitions was an immense success and provided an outlet for the students to showcase their creative sides while interacting with their peers. ENGLISH:
The Department of English organised varied activities to explore the creative bent in the students based on their writing, acting and presentation skills.
‘Shape Poetry Writing and Recitation Competition’ was organised for the students of Class VI which aimed to integrate poetry with art. The participants were given some words and they had to choose one word and write poetry in the shape of the chosen word and then recite it. The event was judged by Ms Livano Banerjee and Ms Ruma Madan and conducted by Ms Aakriti Sharma and Ms Kanika Chamoli. The results of the competition were as follows:

The Departments of History, Geography and Political Science conducted an engrossing ‘Storytelling Competition’ for the students of Class VI wherein the participants narrated fascinating tales from the Panchtantra and the Jataka stories. After narrating the stories, the participants had to explain the moral/values behind the stories and relate them to concepts in Civics such as equality, freedom, fraternity, justice, etc.
Participants also had to highlight the geographical settings of the stories such as the flora and fauna, rivers, mountains, forests, etc. and their importance. Thus, the event aimed to connect the various disciplines as well as established the fact that moral values are timeless.
