The Scholar Badge Ceremony of Class VII (Sections A-F) was held on 27 November 2017 at Delhi Public School R.K.Puram. The annual ceremony is an acclaimed event at the school, where students are awarded for their exceptional performance in academics and co-curricular activities.
The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the lamp and a performance by the school orchestra which left the audience enchanted. The Chief Guest, Dr. Siddarth Ramji, Dean of Maulana Azad Medical College, a renowned Paediatrician and Neonatologist, was felicitated by the Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal. The Headmistress, Ms. Rashmi Malhotra also graced the occasion.
A short film showcasing the school’s various achievements in academics, sports and co-curricular activities was shown which elicited a loud round of applause.
The Principal addressed the gathering, emphasising on the topic of the ceremony, ‘Celebrating Life.’ She highlighted the importance of utilising one’s time well and not wasting it on frivolous joys through an anecdote, where she said that filling one’s jars with sand (the momentary pleasures) leaves no space for the golf balls( greater and more important things). But there will always be space for everything else, if one fills the jars with the important things first. She concluded her speech by saying, “Every moment today becomes a memory tomorrow. Don’t wait for the moments in the present, create these special moments.”
A cultural performance, which began with a melodious recital by the choir, followed by a rendition of Shakespeare’s The Seven Ages and ended with a theatrical performance about having a cheerful disposition and a positive outlook, left the audience mesmerised
The Chief Guest, Dr. Ramji started his speech by saying, “though it is a world of competition
that we are living in, it is for our competence that we will be remembered.” He went on to say that geniuses are not born, but made. He ended with a quote by Thomas Alva Edison, “Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.”
The Award Distribution Ceremony was conducted by the Class Representative, Ms. Sapna Sharma, introducing the awardees. The Chief Guest, the Principal and the Headmistress presented the students with their awards.
The Headmistress, Ms. Rashmi Malhotra, delivered the vote of thanks and the ceremony concluded with everyone rising for the National Anthem.
