Alabhya Das of Class XII C has authored a book of poems, All Things Wise and Wacky, capturing a range of emotions and thoughts, wise, wistful and often delightfully quirky. Alabhya’s book has the unique distinction of earning a Foreword and praise from two famous Indian authors – Ms. Shailaja Bajpai, eminent author, media critic and Senior Editor with The Indian Express and Ms. Advaita Kala- a successful author and writer of acclaimed movies Kahaani and Anjaana-Anjaani.
Alabhya’s gift for creative writing has won national and international laurels for the school. She was conferred with the prestigious National BalShree title for creative writing in 2015. The award, instituted by the Government of India to honour children with exceptional talent, involves a one year long, three-stage selection process at the State, Regional and National level, with the selection panel consisting of stalwarts from the field of literature, education and art. She has also been selected for the Chacha Nehru Scholarship for Artistic and Innovative Excellence awarded by the NCERT, and won accolades from the International Royal Commonwealth Society for her essays.
An outstanding student, Alabhya’s other interests include public speaking and music (she is a trained Hindustani Classical Vocalist and a member of the school Western vocal choir). She has won several reputed inter-school competitions in both debating and music.
An avid student of the sciences, Alabhya aspires to be a Molecular Biologist, engaged in research. Alabhya is President of the School Biology Club, where her mission is to reinvent the way people look at Biology.
