Class IX Scholar Badge Ceremony 2023-2024

Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram hosted the much awaited Class IX Scholar Badge Ceremony 2022-23 on 16 January 2024 in the Audio-Visual Hall (AVH) from 2 pm onwards to celebrate the academic and co-curricular achievements of the students.

The event commenced with the auspicious lighting of the lamp by the esteemed Chief Guest, Dr Joseph Emmanuel, Director Academics of the Central Board of Secondary Education, the esteemed Guest of Honour, Ms Avny Lavasa, Special Secretary, Government of Jammu and Kashmir and Dr. P.N. Dogra (Parent of Armaan Dogra) along with the Principal Ms Padma Srinivasan, The Vice Principals Mr Naresh Miglani, Mr Anil Kathuria ,Mr Mukesh Kumar and The Headmistresses  Ms Rashmi Malhotra and Ms Anubha Gopal. 

They were felicitated by the Principal Ms Padma Srinivasan by tokens of affection and regard.The programme commenced with a melodious song ‘Symphony of Life’, presented by the Western Vocal Music Society. The sparkling melody embodied the spirit of ‘positivity and making challenges your strengths.’

A short movie, highlighting the school’s achievements , events organised, and  the accolades received by the students, was presented.The Principal, Ms. Padma Srinivasan in her address welcomed the Chief Guest Dr Joseph Emmanuel and the Guest of Honour, Ms Avny Lavasa as well as the proud parents of the students receiving the awards by thanking them for gracing the occasion with their  presence. She applauded the hard work put in by the students and reiterated the pivotal role of parents in a student’s development. Moreover, she emphasised on the importance of students’ involvement in extracurricular activities for their holistic development. 

A Musical Dance Drama ‘Cinderella: A Modern Retelling’ was beautifully enacted by the students of Class IX. The play showcased a different perspective on the classical fairy tale emphasising on self-faith and determination that one should possess in order to achieve one’s own dream and fulfil aspirations.The audience was mesmerised by the enthralling performance of the students in various roles and the riot of colours in their dramatic costumes. The musical not only brought to fore the acting and dancing talents of the students but it also brought out their scintillating musical prowess. Each song in the musical was sung live by the students on the stage.The school, right from the entrance to the Audio Visual Hall, was decorated and transformed into a fairy land.The dances presented, especially the fairy dance, were breathtaking.

The Chief Guest, Dr Joseph Emmanuel, appreciated the message of pursuing one’s dreams through the play. He highlighted the significance of honing important life skills apart from academics for overall success in life. He also mentioned that the upcoming National Education Policy aimed to do just exactly that. Finally, he congratulated all the Scholar Badge awardees for their dedication and achievement as well as all the students who participated in the musical play for their excellent  performance. He not only complimented the school for being at the top for so many years but also for grooming the students for the future.

The much awaited scholar badge ceremony began. Students were awarded Gold medals, Blue and Green badges, and certificates as a token of appreciation for their toil over the past year. In total, 272 Blue Badges, 7 Green Badges,12 Red Blazers, 46 pins, 13 Red ties and 9 Gold medals were awarded. 

Ms. Rashmi Malhotra, the Head Mistress, proposed  the vote of thanks. She expressed her gratitude towards the Chief Guest Dr Joseph Emmanuel for taking out time to grace the occasion, She also thanked the Principal Ms Padma Srinivasan for providing a platform like this to showcase the talent of the students and for acknowledging their accomplishments at such a formal ceremony. She also expressed her gratitude towards  the Vice Principals Mr Naresh Miglani,Mr Anil Kathuria ,Mr  Mukesh Kumar along with the teachers and students who had played their part perfectly in successfully organising the ceremony.

The National Anthem marked the culmination of the event.

TOPIC – “NATIONAL YOUTH DAY – VIKSIT YUVA, VIKSIT BHARAT”

To commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda and to acknowledge his invaluable contributions to Indian society, the students of Class VIII G gathered for a grand celebration of National Youth Day. The theme for this year’s celebration was ‘Viksit Yuva Viksit Bharat,’ emphasizing the development of youth for the progress of the nation.

The assembly commenced with a soulful rendition of the prayer ‘Humko Mann Ki Shakti Dena’ by Kedara Swarangini Sahajpal, Ishita Sati, Shivaya Matta, Ayush Ranjan, Ankita, Atharv Vaish, and Ronak. The comperes, Aarsheya Shekhar, Aakriti Dewangan, and Samarth Dhami, then introduced the theme and invited students to present the news bulletin. Ayana Bharadwaj, Hamza Rashid, Aviral Goel, and Shivaya Matta delivered a comprehensive news bulletin. Adya Gupta and Yashraj Kumar delivered a thought-provoking message that set the tone for the National Youth Day celebration. Their words aimed to inspire reflection and contemplation among the audience, encouraging everyone to internalize the teachings of Swami Vivekananda.

Mayansh Khurana, Ishita Sati, Ayush Ranjan, Niharika Singh, Aviral Goel, Aayesha Tarique, Naitik Yadav, Shivanjali Basra, S. Samyukta, Vedanshi Singh, Vidhi, and Atharv Vaish showcased their talents through a captivating skit reflecting the teachings of Swami Vivekananda.

Kedara Swarangini Sahajpal, Ishita Sati, Saanvi Sharma, and Shivaya Matta graced the audience with a beautiful musical performance adding a melodious touch to the celebration. Aastha Rai, Ritika, Aayu Tyagi, Niharika Singh, Sapna, and Priya Chauhan mesmerized everyone with an enthralling dance performance, capturing the spirit of National Youth Day. The aesthetic artwork and virtual design were brought to life by Srinika, Rishi Das, Naitik Yadav, Atharv Vaish, Saanvi Sharma, Aarsheya Shekhar, Aayesha Tarique and Aviral Goel, showcasing creativity and talent. The audio editing and digital presentation were done by Vansh Nagpal, Atharv Vaish, and Yashraj Kumar.

The National Youth Day celebration at DPS,RK Puram was a harmonious blend of cultural expressions, artistic talents, and a deep understanding of Swami Vivekananda’s ideals. The event successfully achieved its goal of sensitizing students towards the significance of rational thinking and the role of youth in the development of the nation. The legacy of Swami Vivekananda continues to inspire the young minds of today, fostering a sense of responsibility and commitment towards building a better India.

GUEST SPEAKER PROGRAMME FOR CLASS VIII

A Guest Speaker Programme on The Importance of the Medical Profession was organised in Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram on Thursday, 11 January 2024 for the students of Class VIII. The Guest Speaker for the programme was Dr.Arushi Gupta, Professor, Anaesthesia and Critical Care Medicine,Vardhaman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi.

The programme was organised under the able guidance of the Principal, Ms Padma Srinivasan and with the support of the Headmistress, Ms Anubha Gopal and Ms. Niva Chhonkar, HOD Biology.

The programme commenced with an introduction of the eminent guest. Ms. Niva Chhonkar, HOD Biology,  addressed the gathering and expressed her joy at having Dr.Arushi Gupta, as the honoured guest speaker for the event.

Thereafter, Dr Arushi Gupta addressed and updated the students about the importance and relevance of the medical profession and critical care medicines.She gave instances of patients who were cured completely with the help of critical care treatment. She also highlighted how critical care treatments had saved critically ill patients who had no scope of survival.She supported her speech with presentations showing different kinds of medical equipment,  machines used for critical care and teams of doctors treating critically ill patients.

The session culminated with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Niva Chhonkar, HOD Biology, who thanked the esteemed guest, for sparing her valuable time and enlightening the students and teachers alike on the importance and relevance of medicine as a profession. She thanked the Principal, Ms Padma Srinivasan for her continuous guidance and encouragement and also Ms Neelam Ajwani, Activity Incharge-Eco, for facilitating the programme.  

The programme was an immense success as it not only educated students about the importance of medical science but also motivated them to pursue it as a future career.

Schedule for SSE Board Practical Examination – 2024

Champions Of Bro. Mahony Football Memorial Tournament 

16 teams  participated from Delhi NCR for 29th BRO. MAHONY FOOTBALL MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT which was held at MOUNT. ST. MARY’S SCHOOL starting from 31st July 2023 to 5th August 2023. The U14 boys of the football team of DPS RK PURAM  were declared as the champions of the tournament. In the semi final match our school team defeated Modern school by 3-0 goals . In the final match we defeated Venkateshwar International School Dwaraka by 2-0 goals. From our school Kartik Kashyap from 9-G adjudged as the best player of the tournament. AFRAAZ TARIQ of class VIII-I adjudged as the best defender of the tournament.
