DPS RK PURAM CELEBRATES COMASTITVA 2023


‘The success of the young entrepreneur will be the key to India’s transformation in the new millennium.’

ComAstitva’23, an annual inter-school festival hosted by the Commerce and Economics Department of DPS R.K. Puram, was hosted on Saturday, 26 August 2023, under the able guidance of the Headmistress, and Coordinator for The Commerce and Economics Department,  Ms. Rashmi Malhotra. The festival consisted of both offline and online events, allowing students from schools across Delhi-NCR to showcase and expand their commercial and entrepreneurial skills. A variety of events gave exposure to students of grade XI and XII to the world of finance, economics and business, helping them to develop a marketing mindset and various other business related skills. 


The online events consisted of :

  • Eureka (The Idea)

This event provided a platform for students to exhibit their innovation and marketing skills by creating a digital presentation on a business idea related to topics like education, healthcare, and FinTech. The participants were judged based on creativity, content and practicality. The event was judged by Ms. Poonam Gupta, Professor in Department of Commerce, Delhi School of Economics. 


  • Fincature

The creativity and accounting knowledge of the participants was brought to test in this event, where they were instructed to provide a caricature depicting an accounting principle or concept. The judgement criteria were originality, visual appeal and graphic representation. Students were required to probe the various accounting principles and blend in their imagination with the same. The esteemed judges included Ms. Jyotika Bahl, Associate Professor of Gargi College, Delhi University, and Ms. Neeti Banga, Associate Professor of NIFT Delhi, who provided their able guidance and judgement.


  • VideoVerse (Online Video-making Competition)

In this event, participants were expected to make a one minute video analysing the monetary policy of the United States and its effect on India and the rest of the world. The participants were judged on the basis of coherence and effectiveness, technical allure, and utilisation of creative tools. Mr. Abhishek Gupta, a Senior Economist covering India and the South  Asian frontier for Bloomberg in Mumbai, and Ms. Sumedha Madan,  a management student at SP Jain Institute of Management and Research, were the judges for the event.

The offline events were:

  • The Speaking Ninjas 

This event challenged students to articulate their viewpoints on diverse matters in the business realm.  There were thirty teams in total and each consisting of two members who spoke for and against the topic “We lose when we work with a giant Artificial Intelligence system such as CHAT GPT’’ within one minute. Arguments put forth by each participant combined with interjections from the fellow competitors created an atmosphere of healthy yet competitive debate and discussion. They were judged by Ms. Monika Bansal, who is a Professor in the Department of Management Studies at Deen Dayal University and Dr. Taruna.J Agarwal, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Management Studies at Delhi University.


  • The Accounting Bingo

In this event, participants from 30 schools were invited to attempt a time-bound questionnaire consisting of 15 questions for the preliminary round from which the top 7 teams were selected for the final round. The preliminary round ended with a tie for 7th position, resulting in a closely fought tiebreaker. The participants who reached the final round played a game of tambola, which tested their knowledge and accounting skills, engaging them in a didactic competition to secure the final positions. 


  • Econexus-Design & Slogan Extravaganza

This event required the participants to design a unique Indian G-20 logo along with a slogan. Charged with enthusiasm and creativity, students of class 11 and 12 worked tirelessly creating beautiful designs within the time period of one hour. 28 teams consisting of 2 students each  brought new shades of colour to the G20 events through their art. Dr Astha Ahuja, Head of Department of Economics at Aryabhatta College, Delhi University and  Ms. Shruti Vats , a dedicated educator, mentor, and researcher at the University of Delhi presided over the event as judges.


At the culmination of the ComAstitva, Ms. Padma Srinivasan, Principal, DPS RK Puram congratulated all participants and reiterated the importance of healthy competition, and lauded the contestants for their courage in being able to showcase their talent before an audience. She also spoke about the impermanence of failure, and urged all students to continue striving for excellence. A captivating fusion song was performed by the school choir, which was followed by an invigorating dance performance, inviting spontaneous applause from those present. The Chief Guest, Mr. Ishan Bakshi, Associate Editor, The Indian Express spoke about the importance of confidence in the life of a student, adding that he was amazed by the enthusiasm and conviction with which the participants performed. The Headmistress Ms. Rashmi Malhotra gave the vote of thanks, thanking the Principal for allowing this mega event to take place, The Chief Guest for making the school proud as an extremely successful alumnus, the Judges, the Vice Principals, and the behind the scenes’ teachers for making the event a huge success. The ceremony drew to a close with the singing of the National Anthem.

Class XII Scholar Badge 2023-24

The Scholar Badge Ceremony for class XII was held on 25th August, 2023 at Delhi Public School R.K. Puram, to recognize and commend the students for their exemplary performance in academics and co-curricular activities during the previous academic years. 

The Chief Guest, Shri V.K. Shunglu, Chairman of the Managing Committee of DPS  R.K. Puram, graced the occasion.The floral felicitation of the chief guest was followed by the Fusion Orchestra, setting a melodious tone for the event. A short movie was presented, highlighting the school’s accomplishments and the achievements of the students and staff. 

The Principal – Ms. Padma Srinivasan, extended a cordial welcome to all present and expressed her gratitude for the Chairman’s ceaseless support for the school. She addressed the scholars and their proud families, and encouraged them to continue the persistent hard work and efforts in the years to follow.  

The invigorating and euphonic rendition of the song “Chal Tere Vajood Ki Talash Hai” by the school choir highlighted the importance of finding and pursuing one’s purpose in life. The exquisite vocalisation and harmonisation of the melodies struck a chord with the audience. Following this, the Chau, a folk and classical dance form of Orissa was staged, that left a reverberating impact on the heart and soul of those present. The energy and enthusiasm on the stage reflected in the audience response which was filled with admiration for the performers. A huge round of applause for the dancers ensued.    

The Chief Guest motivated the students by emphasising the importance of the journey to success rather than the goal. He accentuated the significance of unity among the efforts of the students and their mentors. His address was followed by the much awaited Award Ceremony. As a hallmark of true academic brilliance, 200 gold medals, 111 Green Badges and 10 blazers were awarded to the meritorious students and over 100 awards were bestowed upon those excelling in extracurricular activities like sports, music and dance.

Among the recipients of gold medalists were the stream toppers of CBSE Board Examinations 2022-23: Parth Kumar from Science Stream, Vidushi Jaidka from the Commerce Stream and Shreeya Nahata from the Humanities. 

Deepanvita Baisya Memorial Award was given to class-XI stream toppers, Akshita Mishra from Humanities, Mauray Jain from Science and Nishnaat Aggarwal from Commerce stream. Ishwar Chandra Memorial Awards were bestowed upon the section toppers of class XI. 

The event came to a close with the vote of thanks proposed by the Vice Principal, Mr. Anil Kathuria, thanking all staff members and students whose efforts made the ceremony a success. The ceremony ended with the school anthem followed by the national anthem.

Crossroads – Annual Career Fair 2023

“Part of success is preparation on purpose”

On 19th August 2023, Delhi Public School RK Puram hosted Crossroads- Annual Career Fair at Junior branch, Delhi Public School Vasant Vihar. Over 80 universities from countries including the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, France, Italy, Hong Kong and Singapore alongside  20+ Indian universities took part in this event. Some prestigious universities participating were University of Southern California, University of California, King’s College London, University College London, University of British Columbia, Singapore Management University and  Ashoka University. 

The representatives of these universities imparted an abundance of information regarding their institutions, latest programmes, upcoming research and newly launched centres, as well as answered a range of queries from the potential applicants and their parents. Topics covered in the discussions were foreign education systems, admission process, fee structure, overhead charges etc. The universities offered a plethora of courses such as Engineering, Management, Business, Architecture, Law, Art, Design, Music and Film Production among other sought after courses. Brochures were provided and information was exchanged between the representatives and students for further communication.  

The event was attended by students and parents of classes IX to XII, who got an insight into the various features of international higher education and an array of career opportunities. This fair opened new doors for numerous students, and has proven to be a platform for both students and parents to gain a better grasp on university education.

Over all winner  in the Byte.IT 2023 hosted by Bal Bharti Public School, Pitampura

Investiture Ceremony for Club Appointments 2023

The  Investiture Ceremony of the club appointments of Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram was held on Tuesday, 22nd August 2023. A lively performance by the orchestra provided a soulful start to the event. Continuing on a musical note, a harmonious performance by the choir melodiously elevated the atmosphere.

The enchanting performances were followed by the principal’s address.The Principal Ms Padma Srinivasan congratulated the students  on their achievement and encouraged them to pursue their passions.She applauded the newly appointed students and reiterated  in them a sense of responsibility, commitment and honour.The appointees  of the various clubs were then awarded the badges by the Principal Ms Padma Srinivasan the Vice Principals Mr Naresh Miglani,Mr Anil Kathuria and Mr Mukesh Kumar.

The Vice Principal, Mr. Naresh Miglani congratulated the new club appointees and proposed the vote of thanks. He  commended the efforts of everyone involved in making the event a success.

The event came to an end  on a high note with the school anthem, followed by the national anthem.

The Open House for the parents of class XII students was held on 19th August 2023.

An email was sent on the official email id of the students regarding the schedule of the PTM. Students were also allowed to accompany their parents for the same. Wardens took feedback about the hostellers from the respective Class teachers and further informed the parents about the same. Few hotellers’ parents also attended the PTM. Parents interacted with the foreign admission counsellor as well and were updated about the deadlines for the same. Parents were appreciative of the Career Fair organized by the school on the same day at DPS Vasant Vihar. Parents got an insight into the admission process of more than 110 Universities and got an opportunity to connect with the admissions officers directly. Parents were appreciative of the remedial classes organized for the weak students. The session was fruitful, constructive, productive and gainful.

TOPIC – “ONAM: THE FESTIVAL OF 3T’S: TASTES, TRADITIONS AND TOGETHERNESS”

“Onam is not just a festival to cherish, but a moment to reincarnate a past of prosperity and goodness.” With this theme in mind, the Class Assembly of IX E and IX F began with a heartfelt morning prayer ‘Achyutam Keshavam’ to invoke goddess Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge and performing arts. The morning prayer was performed by Vineeta, Manya, khushbu, Abia, Vaibhav, Rudransh, Harish, Shivansh, Aviral, M. Manish, Atif, Daksh, Hitakshi, Mansi, Harshita, Agrima, Arnav, Aryan, Ashish, Atharv, Ayush, Diljot, Gurveer, Hanshika, Harsh, Ishaan, Mehana, Mishka, Sarnav, Saiansha, Samriddhi and Vanshika. This was followed by the Vandana dance form – Kaikotti Kali, performed by Shatakshi, Jyoti, Kshirja, Riya, Hanshika and Wageesha. Anasuya and Hargun introduced the topic: Onam, the festival of 3Ts: Tastes, Traditions and Togetherness. Imaad, Abia, Saiansha and Shreshtha shared their thoughts for the day. News headlines were presented by Ansh, Manit, Avika and Pranika followed by a self-composed poetry recited by Vineeta reflecting the dynamism of the festival of Onam. Thereafter, an enthralling skit depicting why Onam is celebrated was presented followed by a live tableau of ten days of Onam celebrations by Praneet, Aditri, Arjun, Swaraj, Aarav, Advait, Akriti, Aryaveer, Adyan, Shatakshi, Riya, Khushbu, Manya, Manav, Vedanth, Reyaansh, Rudransh, Arnav, Aryan, Atharv, Ayush, Diljot, Gurveer, Harsh, Kathith, Krishiv, Mehana, Prakhar, Sharv, Shazaan, Vanshika and Yug. A fusion of western and semi-classical dance was performed on the theme by Hargun, Rudransh Kaushik, Aiesha, Ashvika, Kavin, Pragya and Ritika.The concluding act was a soulful orchestra performance performed by Anasuya, Hargun, Abia, Vineeta, Dhairya, Mohd. Atif, Agrima, Gurveer, Kavin, Kshirja, Mehana, Mishka, Pranika, Ritika, Saiansha, Samanyu, Sarnav and Tanishq. The comperes of the programme were Shashank, Aiesha, Ashvika, Kavin, Mishka, Arnav, Aditya, Aditri, Samanyu, Anasuya, Hargun and Saisha. The folders, cards and the board for the assembly were made by Abia, Akriti, Shatakshi, Hitakshi, Anusha, Riya, Adyan, Ansh, Saisha, Vivek, Ashvika, Kshirja, Pranika, Karan and Mohd. Sameer. A model depicting the Onam celebrations was prepared by Avika, Saisha and Pragya. The digital presentation was made and presented by Anasuya, M. Manish, Aviral, Ishan, Kathith, Krishiv and Myra. The vote of thanks was delivered by the class teachers of 9E and 9F. The assembly was an initiative to spread awareness about the festival of Onam and to embrace its spirit, cherishing the values of togetherness, gratitude and a sense of belonging that it imparts in our society.

Assembly XI-O & XI-P (22-08-2023)

TOPIC – “AB KHEL JAMEGA”

“Life is the grandest game of them all, where challenges are levels, choices are moves, and growth is the ultimate high score.” The students of class XI-O and XI-P at DPS R.K.Puram gathered on Tuesday, 22 August 2023, to present their fun-filled assembly on the topic “AB KHEL JAMEGA”. In this era of digital games, we seem to have forgotten all that comes with offline ones- not only fun, but also life lessons such as teamwork, and dealing with loss. The students of XI-O & XI-P presented a refreshing assembly to highlight the nostalgia and the importance of offline games. 

The assembly kicked off with a melodious morning prayer by Aarav Bagga, Aanya Kaushik, Esha Devgan, Jayant Arora, Shreya Sood, Kabir Batra, Tanish Verma, Rajveer, Ahaan, Vanya Mittal, Parth Sarthy Goyal, Nandini Nathani, Aditya Singh and Prachit Jain, followed by a soulful Vandana presented by Shilky Agarwal and Venika Ajith. Every event in the assembly aimed to highlight a certain game, and instead of following the usual compére-format, all events were announced by a dice role, and creative jingles, sung by Siyona Arora, linking the numbers to the events. Creative background music was also provided by Kabir Batra (guitar), Abhigyan (clapbox), Rudrajeet (keyboard} and Inesh (Guitar). Starting with a short introductory skit by Shaurya Datta, Ekam Singh, Parth Sarthy Goyal and Navya Jain, we had the Thought For The Day, presented by Diya Agarwal. News followed soon after in the form of Kho-Kho, delivered by Parth, Jayant, Tanish, Arman, Anirudh and Shrish. The western choir, including Aanya, Banisha, Janya, Sitamsh, Dishita Puri, Rudrajeet, Abhigyan, Shubham, Aditya, Ekam, Parth, Siyona, Nandini, Prachit, Anmol and KM Raghav, sang a beautiful melody. Both of the two dances energized the gathering and garnered much applause. The dances were presented by Satwika, Aahana Singla, Dhwani Jain, Kangana, Sahibnoor, Shenaya, Kabir, Soham, Aarav, Shreya, Tanisha and Mushahid. A dramatic skit was put up by Aanya Kaushik, Aarav Goyal, Parth, Harjas, Nevaan, Aadya Garg, Jia, Kiaan and Ahaan, highlighting the importance of offline games. This preceded a beautiful self-composed poem by Shaurya Datta, which discussed the impact of offline games on our lives. The assembly concluded with another short skit, put up by Shaurya Datta, Parth, Ekam and Navya. 

The board was made by Esha Devgan, Krisha Manot, Zuali, Gaurika, Jia and Shaurya, while the props were made by Prachit Jain. The digital presentation was made and operated by Kanav Malani, Ojas Singal and Samar Duhoon, while the cards and folders were prepared by Esha Deugan, Krisha Manot. The e-invite video was made by Shaurya Datta, and the comperes were Karmanya, Shivya, Saanvi K., Avni and Shaurya. The scripting for the event was done by Jia Gupta (Play), and Vanya Mittal & Shaurya Datta (Assembly). The credits were compiled by Diya Agarwal and Shaurya Datta.

Assembly XI-I & XI-J (24-08-2023)

TOPIC – “THE GREATNESS OF HUMANITY IS NOT IN BEING HUMAN, BUT IN BEING HUMANE.”

In a world often dazzled by human accomplishments, the true greatness of humanity resides not merely in our existence, but in our capacity to be humane. While our intellect and innovation define us, it’s our compassion, empathy, and acts of kindness that elevate us. The essence of our magnificence lies not in grand achievements, but in simple gestures that unite us. Through empathy, we transcend barriers and create a world where our shared humanity is the common thread.

The Students of XI – I and XI – J presented an assembly on the topic — “The greatness of humanity is not in being a human, but in being humane.” The assembly commenced with the prayer ‘Suraj Ki Garmi Se’ by Abhay, Tisya, Pranav, Advait, Ishaan Kashyap, Ishan Prakash, Prachi, Leiasha, Harshit, Siddhi, Pratyush, Ritvik, Samrath, Naina, Sai and Sanav. Siddhi and Leiasha recited a shlok along with its interpretation. The shlok was followed by an informative news presentation by Aksh, Gaurika, Pratyush, and Tisya. The comperes Arshia, Lavanya, Shresth and Vinayak introduced the topic and invited Aarush Agarwal and Muanhlunsang Guite to present meaningful thoughts that summarized the topic beautifully.

In a captivating blend of dance, music and drama, the skit exhibited the latent abilities of various performers.. Aanya, Naina, Pranay, Avani, Naman, Sai, Avni, Ashmit, Saksham, Priyanshu, Daksh, Shaurya Veer, Devraj, Sidhi, Vansh, Diptanshu, Yajat, Krishang, Aditya, Shobhini, Oihik, Ananta, Kartavya, Arjun, Garvit, Gyan and Shaurya were the proficient actors on the stage. The instruments were played by Oihik Guha. Through their artistic expressions, they illustrated the idea that true greatness lies not solely in being human, but in embracing the human values that make us humane. It depicted the power each individual holds to make a difference through acts of humanity, contributing to the greater harmony of our world. The western dance was performed by Aanya, Adya, Avni, Prachi and Siddhi while the Indian dance was performed by Huma Jasmine and Taarushi Abrol.

The mesmerizing artwork and digital invites were created by a skillful team of artists. The team included Adya, Diptanshu, Prachi, Vrihad, Naina, Gaurika, Anwesha, Anant, Aditya,Vinayak, Ridham, Jishnu,and Lakshay. The western choir had Samrath, Sai, Ritvik, Arika, Kartavya, Shaurya Dubey, Prachi, Leiasha, Tisya, Huma, Advait, Pranav, Ishan Prakash, Ishaan Kashyap, Adhyann and Vivan. The digital presentation was prepared by Rihit, Adhyant, Sai and Aksh. The comperes concluded the assembly with a vote of thanks and message to encourage humanity and compassion towards our fellow human beings.

Broadcasting of Chandrayaan-3 Mission

As you are aware, India’s pursuit of space exploration is on the verge of a remarkable milestone with the impending Chandrayaan-3 Mission, poised to achieve a landing on the Moon. This marks not only a quantum step forward for Indian Science, Engineering, Technology, and Industry but also for Brand India.

It will generate a profound sense of pride and unity as we collectively celebrate the prowess of Indian science and technology. It will contribute to fostering of an environment of scientific inquiry and innovation. The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India will also join the Nation in witnessing this momentous occasion.
