MUDRANAMA 2023   – 1ST POSITION

The students of the Expressions Theatre Club of Delhi Public School R.K. Puram participated in ‘Coinage Odyssey’ – 21st Brem Dutt Inter School Competition 2023, held on 4 May 2023 organized by Cambridge Foundation School. The actors showcased the prominent evolution of currency from a coin to a note through humorous anecdotes. They were guided by the teacher incharge Ms. Sanya Taneja. The team secured the first position in the competition. The participants were as follows: Akrita Kaur XI-V and Smera Aggarwal XI-Q.

Assembly IX-A & IX-B (04-05-2023)

Topic: “ LAUGHTER- THE BEST REMEDY”

“There is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humour”.

The morning assembly of Class IX-A and IX-B was dedicated to celebrating World Laughter Day and acknowledging the importance and the need of laughter. It is a tool that has the power to tune and bond millions of people. And as Mark Twain once said,” The human race has one really effective weapon, and that is laughter”. 

The assembly began with the morning prayer ‘Achyutam Keshavam’ by Diya, Nitya, Vivaan, Vaishnavi, Kanishka of IX-A and Aarav, Samanvita, Tiara, Aditya, Kavya, Aashna, Amvvika, Abreeq, Shaurya Bidhuri, Parin, Ishan Sharma, Divit, Raghav Khanna, Surya of IX-B. This was followed by a classical dance on ‘Ganesh Vandana’- a powerful stotra of Lord Ganesha by Misha and Aditri of IX-A. A contemplative Thought for the Day was given by Avani, Ishika of IX-A and Harshit, Ragahav Arya of IX-B. To build awareness, Divyam & Harsh of IX-A and Aman & Kabeer of IX-B presented the news. A self composed poem was presented by Aamna & Avani of IX-A and Samanvita of IX-B. This was followed by musical extravaganza, with a soulful rendition of the famous song ‘High Hopes’ by Diya, Nitya, Vivaan, Vaishnavi, Kanishka of IX-A and Aarav, Samanvita, Tiara, Aditya, Kavya, Aashna, Amvvika of IX-B. Following this was a powerful dance performance by Kamya, Aditri, Misha, Ishika & Selvi of IX-A and Samanvita, Tiara, Lakshmi, Jasnoor & Rashi of IX-B. The assembly culminated with a ‘Laughter Session’ by Nishchay, Harshil Arora, Harshil Sachdeva of IX-A and Ibrahim, Shaurya Atre, Ishan Pathak, Ayush, Tanishq, Rudra and Taskirat of IX-B.

COMMENCEMENT-VI-VIII (2023-24)   

Move mountains, push boundaries and make today the best first day yet.

Grade VI students were welcomed by their class teachers  on 5th and 6th April 2023 with beautiful bookmarks and chocolates to start their new school year on a sweet note. Since the students were coming to the Senior School for the first time, a school tour was organised for them.The students were made aware about the infrastructure of the school campus. It encouraged them to start the new academic year on a positive note, with hope and motivation in their hearts and the aim to find a home away from home in the school premises.

For grades VII &VIII, the new academic session commenced with a special assembly conducted by the     activity incharges,Ms Abha Chona and Ms Kaveri Dhar on 4th & 5th April respectively.The Principal, Ms Padma Srinivasan, addressed the students and motivated them to put their best foot forward in all their endeavours ,follow school rules and regulations and uphold its motto ‘Service before Self’ in true spirit.The Headmistress(VI-VIII), Ms Anubha Gopal extended her support & best wishes for the new academic session.

Orientation Programme for the Parents of Students of Classes VI- VIII

An Orientation Programme was organised for the parents of students of classes VI- VIII  on 11th ,12th and 17 April ‘23 respectively, from 2:15 to 3:45pm. The purpose of the programme was to introduce the parents to the respective class teachers and subject teachers. It was also to reiterate the general code of conduct  to be followed in school by the students along with a detailed understanding of the curriculum of the various subjects and methodology of assessment.The Headmistress, Ms. Anubha Gopal addressed the parents, reinforcing their trust in the institution for the wellbeing of the students and reassuring them of a promising year ahead. A robust feedback from parents concluded the programme.

Budha Purnima Holiday

Delhi Public School, RK Puram, East of Kailash and Vasant Vihar will remain closed on Friday 5th May, 2023 on account of Budha Purnima.

Assembly XII-L & XII-M (03-05-2023)

Topic: “LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE ”

Classes XII L and M showcased their talent on the topic Laughter is the best medicine. The presentation started with the recital of morning prayer by Bhuvi, Pranav, Vikramaditya, Pranav Neil, Lavanya, Nandi, Gaurya, Saarthak, Shashwat, Riddhi, Rakshit, Kaushal, Hamza, Sainyam, Arush, Raghav, Aditi, Khushi and Shatakshi followed by Krishna Vandana Dance by Sharanya. The class choir included Aarav, Parth, Pranav Neil, Amber, Ruhaan, Vansh, Siddhant, Vikramaditya, Avishi, Ananya, Shashwat, Aayush, Ananyadeep, Riddhi, Aaradhana, Shreya, Sarakshi, Veer, Hamza, Archishman, Mudit, Arush, Chirag and Arnav and sung Counting Stars – One republic. The instrumental piece was brilliantly performed by Parth, Aarav, Vansh, Siddhant, Raghav, Arush, Archishman, Chirag, Rakshit, Hamza and Arnav.

Speeches on the topic were delivered by Pranav Neil, Disha, Avishi, Arush, Sainyam. Self-composed poems to highlight the central idea of laughter were recited by N Tarun, Pranav Neil, Sharanya and Sainyam. The students stressed upon the importance of laughter in daily life and how it acts as a stress reducing tool. The presentation was liked and appreciated by all in the audience.

Topic: “MOTHER- A WALKING MIRACLE”

“A mother is the truest friend – the one who counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and causes peace to return to our hearts.” The morning assembly of Class X-G and H was dedicated to mothers – recognising their unique and essential contributions, to honour their tremendous strength, resilience, and love that they demonstrate every day in caring for their children.

The assembly began with the morning prayer ‘Teri Hai Zameen’ by Saiyaansh, Manbhav, Reyaan, Alok, Himanshu of X-G and Nandika, Aditya Narayan Mishra, Adit, Harshil, Maahira, Rudra, Soham , Aman, Akshat, Krishiv, Gargi, Jai Veer, Vihaan, Aayush, Rajasi of X-H. This was followed by a classical dance on ‘Aigiri Nandini’- a powerful stotra of Goddess Durga by Mahira and Poorvi of X-G and Shradha of X-H. A contemplative Thought for the Day was given by Riddhiman and Siddhant of X-G. A Shloka was recited by Saiyaansh and its translation was given by Ridhi of X-G. To build awareness, Kavin and Nandini of X-G and Ardaas and Anika of X-H presented the news. To highlight the importance of mothers in our lives an eloquent  speech was given by Alvina, Ishika, Caesha, Ashwika of X-G and Aditya of X-H. A self composed poem was presented by Avani, Alvina of X-G and Nirvana of X-H. This was followed by a musical extravaganza, with a soulful rendition of the famous song ‘Luka Chuppi’ by Advita, Megha, Avani, Caesha of X-G and Aditya of X-H followed by Orchestra by Sabeer and Tisya of X-G and Shraddha, Ipsita and Yasha of X-H. The assembly culminated with a powerful dance performance by Ashwika, Diti, Adrika, Rehhet, Omisaa, Anuvrat of X-G and Nandika, Mysha, Ipsita, Maahira, Vaishnavi, Harshil, Shubham, Anupam, Akshat of X-H.

Topic: “IF WINTER COMES, CAN SPRING BE FAR BEHIND…”

“If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind?” is the concluding line from P. B. Shelley’s poem “Ode to the West Wind”. This line suggests that no matter how bleak and difficult things may seem, better days are on the horizon. It’s a metaphor for the cyclical nature of life and the idea that the darkest times always give way to brighter ones. 

The assembly commenced with the prayer “O Paalanhaare”, sung by Aanya, Sanvi, Ayushi, Vanya Sharma, Adya, Raya, Tanvi, Jyoti, Anshika, Suhani, Rajsi, Lanica, Vrinda, Gracy, Komal, Ananya, Kartikeya and Khwahish. The mesmerizing invocation dance was presented by Vanshika and Samvida. The comperes, Vigaas, Tejaswini, Aanya and Sankalp, introduced the topic “If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind”? and invited Vanya Pal and Miesha to share the thoughts for the day and thereafter, Rachna, Shreya, Aradhya, Koustubh and Apoorv to deliver the news. This was followed by a rhythmic poetry Mashup by Brian, Parnika, Gurmani, Leshya and Arunima. Also, to commemorate Earth Day, a conversational speech was delivered by Raghav, Hargunn and Jesiya. A melodic and rousing choir related to the topic of the assembly was managed by Anandita, Vrinda, Lanica, Khwahish, Suhani, Rajsi, Gracy, Komal, Ananya, Brian, Adya, Aanya, Jasnoor, Raya, Shivang, Pratham, Kunal, Ayushi, Parnika, Gurmani, Jesiya, Gayatri, and Vanya Sharma. Lastly, a graceful Western dance was performed by Manya, Advit, Aanya, Anika, Diya, Simran, Kavish, Ritvik, Sanurag, Anandita, Tanishk, Mansi and Ananya. The aesthetic artwork and design was by Seerat, Anika, Vanshika, Vikram, Swasti, Sneha, and Lanica. The assembly concluded by wrapping up the relevance of the topic in today’s world.

Topic: “BAISAKHI”

The students of class VIII- A and B celebrated the festival of Baisakhi through their morning presentation on 26 April 2023 on the topic of “Baisakhi”. The assembly commenced with the prayer “Hey Sharde Maa” sung by Samanyu, Aaliya, Garv, Vaibhav, Enem, Swagatika, Sonanshi, Aaliya, Geetank, Drishti, Valencia, Tejaswani, Vaishnavi, Samrat, Harshita, Yash, Shobhit, Shreyash, Priyanshu, Kanish, Prachi, Hardik and Angel. After this, the headmistress welcomed everyone with an eloquent prayer.

This was followed by inspiring thoughts shared by Vivaan, Keshav, Shreyash, and Vaishnavi. Then, the News for the day was presented by Naman, Arnav, Aniruddha and Vriti. Then there were beautiful self-composed poems recited by Zaara and Srishti. This was followed by a skit on Baisakhi presented by Suhani, Yuvaan, Swagatika, Shreya, Avani, Siddhi, Sivanta, Samanyu and Purab. After this, a melodious Song “Here’s To The Farmer” was sung by Zaara, Valencia, Poorva, Kanish, Aarush, Anabh, Angel, Pranay, Priyanshu and Hardik.  After this, a mesmerising instrumental music performance was executed by Samanyu, Valencia, Avani, Purab, Apoorv, Sonanshi, Dev, and Ayavanth. Next was an energetic group dance performance on the song “Mere Desh ki Dharti” by Siddhi, Avani, Barkha, Aaliya, Shreya, Sunidhi, Dyumna, Drishti, Rishabh, Rudhr, Jatin, Vaibhav, Abhinav, Tejaswani, Harshita, Tanishqa, Devyani, Deepanshi, Angel, Raj, Nitin, Ronik, Yash, Shivam, Sunil and Jatin.

The comperes were Suhani and Srishti. The board was made by Vaishnavi, Maithili, Srishti and Tejaswani. Folders and invitations were prepared by Samanyu, Shreya, and Vaishnavi. The E-invite was done by Samanyu and Zaara. Digital presentation was prepared by Samanyu and coordinated by Urvee, Sarthak, and Zaara.

Festival Della Scienza 2.0

“Scientists have become the bearers of the torch of discovery in our quest for knowledge.”

Delhi Public School, R. K. Puram hosted its annual Inter-School Science Festival, “Festival Della Scienza 2.0” on April 29, 2023, in a hybrid mode. The event was organised in collaboration with the Biology Department, Chemistry Department, and Physics Department of the school. Thirty seven schools from all over the region participated in this dynamic event, showcasing their passion for science.

 

The festival brought together science enthusiasts from different schools to share their common interests in science and take it to the next level by participating in various competitions.

 

A number of innovative and creative competitions were planned to engage the students in both online and offline activities. 

 

The online category consisted of: 

For classes 6-8

  • Expressione/Collage, Presentation, Mind Maps, Posters and Comic Strips

The event provided a platform for the participants to showcase their talents in the form of collage, presentation, mind maps, posters and comic strips. The multiple themes of Revolutionary Innovation of Physics, Chemistry in Space and Recent Biological Advances were aptly represented in the innovative works submitted. 

For classes 9-10

  • Fotographia Scientifica/ Photography of Scientific Phenomenon

The participants had to submit a photograph depicting a scientific phenomenon observed in daily life and give a suitable caption while explaining it in a few words. The photographs were judged on the basis of resolution, creativity and originality.

  • Rappresentare /Role Play 

With the theme as Serendipity: Accidental Discoveries in Science, the event was an exhilarating experience providing insights to the journey of mankind in scientific endeavours. The participants had to enact accidental discoveries and highlight its relevance in present times. They were judged on creativity, presentation, knowledge and research.

  •  Alimentare Analisi/ Food Adulteration Test

In this event, participants performed food adulteration experiments on selected food items to showcase the theme: Common Adulterants in Food Items. A scientific explanation had to be provided and its significance highlighted. 

 

For classes 9-10

  • Esprimere/ Observe and Express the Concept

This was a demonstration of an activity highlighting a concept of Science observed at home/surroundings. The participants explained the phenomenon using common, everyday materials available at home. The criteria of judging were innovation, clarity of concept and overall presentation. 

 

  • Cucina Sana/ Healthy Fireless Cooking

This event encouraged the participants to show off their culinary skills as they prepared two delicious dishes along with one healthy drink. The theme: Nutritious can be Delicious was aptly showcased as the food items presented did not only provide great nutrition but also mouth-watering flavours.  



For classes 11-12

  • Creative Ingegnaria/ Creative Engineering : Physics

In this event, the participants brought scientific innovations to new heights as they designed a useful and creative device, tool or machinery based on a concept of Physics. They had to explain and justify the underlying principle and also provide a demonstration of the prototype. The cost effectiveness, innovation and efficacy of the projects was stunning.

  • Voltagabbana/ Turncoat Debate: Chemistry

The participants had to speak on a given topic of Chemistry for a minute, providing both sides of the argument. With topics ranging from- to , this event provided an insightful view in the workings of the subject and its intracacies.



  • Giochiamo Biologia/ Let’s Play Biology: Biology

The theme of: Let’s Play Biology encouraged the participants to learn Biology in the play-way method. The participants designed interesting and engaging games of any type for better understanding of difficult terminology, concept and diagram. The important features of the game were highlighted in the summary presented. 

 

At the culmination of Festival Della Scienza 2.0, the valedictory ceremony was held amid much fanfare. The Vice Principal of the school, Mr. Naresh Miglani thanked the Principal Ms. Padma Srinivasan for allowing this event to be held following government guidelines. He enthused the students present by presenting his ideas about how creative ideas and innovations lead to start-ups that may go on to become unicorns. A role-play followed that portrayed the joy of discovery, and its unending benefits to the individual and society. Ms. Padma Srinivasan, Principal, DPS RK Puram, congratulated all the participating schools and spoke about the importance of competition, and stressed upon the importance of participation as key to improvement. She also spoke about how rational and scientific thinking has the potential of changing the world. She also appreciated the heads of the department Mr. Ajay Goel, Mr. Prem Prakash Dhawan, and Ms. Niva Chhonkar, by naming them as stalwarts spearheading the Science Departments. Mr. Ajay Goel, Head, Department of Physics, proposed  the vote of thanks. He thanked the Principal, the Vice Principal, Judges, Science Teachers, Support Staff and volunteers for the successful completion of the gala.

Class X Orientation Programme (2023-24)

An Orientation Programme for the parents of Class X students was organised on 25 April, 2023. The Orientation Programme focussed on introducing the parents to the respective subject teachers, sharing the curriculum of various subjects, scheme of studies and the assessment pattern.

The Headmistress, Ms. Rashmi Malhotra addressed the parents and emphasised on the value of discipline along with the need for the involvement of parents in the learning process of their wards. The Class Representatives reiterated the importance of being regular to school along with highlighting other important aspects. The Class teachers explained the code of conduct to be followed by the students. 

The session ended with the class teachers thanking the parents for participating enthusiastically in the programme and understanding the ethos of the school.
