Scholar Badge Ceremony 2017 – Class XI Sections A-C, E and M-T

The highly anticipated Scholar Badge Ceremony of Class XI (Sections A-C,E, M-T) was hosted by DPS R.K. Puram on 21 November 2017 for the academic year 2017-18, where students are recognized for their achievements in the previous academic years.

Prof. Randeep Guleria, the Director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, being the Chief Guest, was felicitated with a token of regard by the Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal. Mr. Palash Roy Chowdhury also graced the occasion with his presence. Vice Principals Dr. Renu Nayar, Ms. Anita Singh and Ms. Padma Srinivasan were present for the event.

The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the lamp. The school orchestra filled the auditorium with positive vibes by presenting a well synchronized and rhythmic symphony. Thereafter a short film celebrating the achievers and recounting the events hosted by the school was screened.

Addressing the audience, the Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal quoted Winston Churchill, who said, “You have enemies? Good. That means you have stood up for something, sometime in your life,” and later emphasized on the individuality of each student.  She explained the immense importance of self confidence and the discovery of oneself. She concluded by saying “When you know yourself, you’re empowered. When you accept yourself, you’re invincible.”

The overall theme of the performances was “Temet Nosce”, which means ‘Know Thyself’. The speeches about a teenager’s perspective on exploration of identity related to each and every person in the audience. It was followed by a scintillating dance performance presented by the talented performers of our school. A brilliantly performed skit, showcasing the journey of J. K. Rowling’s life, set in the fictional world of Harry Potter connected with the hearts of the audience.

The Chief Guest expressed his gratitude upon being invited to the school and being associated with the D.P.S. Society. In his address, Prof. Guleria made the students comprehend the importance of the Scholar Badge as it displays the school’s efforts to motivate the students to strive towards their goals. He added that this school prepares the students to keep up with the world which changes at a rapid pace. He then congratulated all the Scholar Badge awardees, without forgetting to acknowledge the immense efforts put in by parents and teachers.

The Class Representative, Ms. Sangeeta Mishra, conducted the awards distribution ceremony. The prestigious Prantik Roy Memorial Award, symbolizing excellence in both academics and co-curricular fields was awarded to Ashma Pandya. On this happy occasion, approximately 217 students received awards for their excellence in the fields of academics, sports and co-curricular activities.

The Vice Principal, Dr. Renu Nayar, delivered the vote of thanks. The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.
