IPSC Basketball Championship (U-17) Girls 2012

The All India IPSC Basketball Championship Girls U-17 was held at L.K. Singhania from 15 to 17 November 2012 DPS R.K Puram won the overall championship and Tanya Atree was declared best player of the tournament.



All India Inter DPS Tennis (Boys) U-14 Tournament 2012-13

The All India Inter DPS Tennis T ournament (Boys) U-14 was held at DPS Ahmadabad from 10-14th October 2012. DPS R.K.Puram was the Over all Winner of the Tournament.



All India Inter DPS Chess (Girls) U-14 Tournament 2012-13

The All India inter DPS Chess T ournament Girls U-14 was held at DPS Jaipur from 3-5th October 2012.DPS R.K.Puram won the over all 2nd runner up of the Tournament.



Squash Championship Mens 2013-2014

The Annual sports festival 2013-14 was held at Country Club, Saket from 29 February – 5 March.

Adheesh Dawer of class 12-P, DPS R.K.Puram was awarded the first prize in the Open Squash Championship, in the men’s category.



Roller Skating Championship 2013

The Delhi State Skating Championship 2013 was held at H.D. Public school East Patel Nager from 19-21st April 2013. The DPS R.K.Puram U-16 Girls team won the over all Championship 2013.



All India Inter DPS Table Tennis Championship 2013

At the All India Inter DPS Table Tennis boys & girls tournament held at DPS Navi Mumbai from 4-6th May 2013, 24 DPS schools participated from all over India .DPS R.K.Puram won the over all Championship and the U-19 girls Team championship, the U-17 boys team Championship. The U-19 Girls individual winner was Aanchal Malhotra & the 1st runner–up the Riti Shankar, the U-17 boys individual 1st runner up was Shiven Banga and the 2nd runner up was Ayush Kapoor.DPS R.K.Puram was declared the best team of the tournament 2013-14.



2nd Sara Open Lawn Tennis Championship

Arnav Mahajan of class 9-L of DPS R.K Puram participated in the 2nd Sara Open Lawn Tennis Championship which was organised by Sara Foundation and was held at Thyagraj Stadium, INA Colony, New Delhi from 4th May to 7th May 2013.
He secured a second position and bagged the silver medal in Boys U-16 Individuals category.

A Champions League For Young Footballers

Thirty two teams of young footballers from eminent football clubs in Delhi & NCR participated in the Delhi Youth League from 2nd December 2012  to  21st April 2013.This round robin league football match  held in our school complex was conducted by Royal Netherlands Embassy. In the super division football league, DPS,  R.K. Puram’s  Under-14 team was declared as first runner-up. In the Under-12 category, DPS R.K.Puram’s boys bagged the 2nd runner-up position.

MPC Young Soccer Tournament 2013

DPS R.K. Puram U-19 Football team participated in the MPC Young Soccer Tournament held at CR park new Delhi from 18th to 20th April 2013. 16 schools participated in this tournament DPS R.K. Puram won the overall championship.

Rishabh Ayyar of DPS R.K. Puram declared best player of the tournament.



All India Inter DPS Swimming Championship (Boys) 2013-14

All India Inter DPS Swimming Championship 2013-2014 was held at DPS Bhilai from 12th to 14th April 2013. 20 DPS Schools participated from all over India. DPS R.K. Puram won the following championship.

  1. DPS R.K. Puram won the U-19 team championship.
  2. DPS R.K. Puram won the 1st Runner UP in the U-16 team Championship.

Highlights of the Swimming (Boys) Meet

  1. Harsh Yadav won  four Gold Medals in the U-19 Category and was declared the best swimmer of the Meet.
  2. Chirag Singhal won three Gold Medals and one silver medal in the U-19 Category.
  3. Aryan Chatterjee won two Silver Medals in the U-19 Category
  4. Saksham Malhotra won one Silver Medal and one bronze Medal in the U-19 Category
  5. Harsh Tokas won three Silver Medals and one bronze Medal in the U-16 Category .
  6. Shivang Tokas won two Silver Medals  in the U-16 Category.
  7. Yash Sansanwal won two Gold Medals and two Silver Medals in the U-16 Category and decleard best swimmer of the U-16 Category.
  8. Arnav Anand won  two Silver Medals and one bronze Medal  in the U-16 Category.

Uppingham School London England U-16 Cricket Team

Uppingham School London England U-16 Cricket Team visited DPS R.K. Puram New Delhi to Play cricket match at DPSRK Puram Sports complex on 26th March 2013. Uppingham School London won the toss and decided to bat first. Uppingham School London all out in 23.4 overs and made 54 runs. DPSRKP chassed 54 runs in 15.2 overs and won the match by 8 wickets.



58th National School Games – Squash Championship 2012-13

The 58th National School Games Squash Championship was held at the Indian Squash Academy, Chennai between 21-24 January 2013.c Aseem Mehra, a student of Class IX J, DPS R.K.Puram was selected to represent the Delhi Squash State Team in the Under 17 category.

The Delhi State team won the overall 3rd position. Aseem Mehra was awarded a Bronze medal & Certificate of merit by Padamshree Satpal, the President of the School Games Federation of India and received a scholarship of Rs. 5000/-



HUES OF LEARNING – THE GRAND EVENING

Delhi Public School, R.K.Puram presented ‘Hues of Learning – a colourful fusion of Academics, Sports and Culture’ on 17th February 2013. The event was a joint effort of the students of DPS R.K.Puram, its junior wings, Vasant Vihar and East of Kailash; and DPS Shiksha Kendra, a school for the underprivileged run on the premises of the host school.

The chief guest was Mr. Ashok Chandra, Chairman of DPS Society. The Principal, Dr.D.R.Saini welcomed all the guests. Other dignitaries gracing the occasion were Prof.Dr.Usha Luthra, Prof.B.P.Khandelwal and Mr.P.C.Bose , Members of DPS Society; Mr.M.I.Hussain, Principal, DPS Mathura Road; Ms.Bindu Sehgal, Principal, DPS Vasant Kunj. Special guests were Mr.Sushil Kumar, Indian world champion in wrestling and Ms.Anjum Chopra, former captain of the Indian women’s cricket team and an ex-Dipsite. Others present were the Vice Principal, Mrs Shobha Mehta; Mrs.Pushpa Agarwal, Vice Principal of DPS Shiksha Kendra; the Headmistresses, Ms.Vanita Sehgal and Mrs.Anita Singh; the Superviser, Mr.Mukesh Kumar; Mr.N.Suresh, Head of Department of Physical Education; and Mrs Archana Pental and Mrs.Dolly Chanana, Headmistresses of DPS Vasant Vihar and East of Kailash respectively.

The guests and parents visited a grand exhibition, which showcased the talents of the students in the form of art, projects and working models of English, French, German, Japanese, Hindi, Sanskrit, History, Geography, Civics, Business Studies, Accountancy, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science and Robotics. Exhibition showcasing talents of primary schools’ children was put up by both the Junior Schools – DPS Vasant Vihar and DPS East of Kailash. There were stalls by Educomp, Extramarks and HCL to showcase the latest educational technology tools. The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp followed by the march past by the students of classes Nursery to XIth. The cultural extravaganza which followed had vibrant dances from the various Indian states presented by the colourfully attired students of DPS R.K.Puram, Vasant Vihar and East of Kailash and DPS Shiksha Kendra. The Chairman, Mr.Ashok Chandra addressed the gathering and congratulated all the participants on their performance. The vote of thanks was delivered by the Vice Principal, Mrs.Shobha Mehta.

The 5th Armaan Dogra Memorial Football Tournament

The closing ceremony of the 5th Armaan Dogra Memorial Football Tournament, which was flagged off on 23rd November 2012, was held at Delhi Public School, R.K.Puram on 21st December 2012. This tournament is held every year for classes six to eleven. The event is held annually in memory of Armaan Dogra, a student of the school who was snatched away by the cruel hands of fate. Armaan was an excellent actor, football player, swimmer and a scholar badge holder.

The chief guest was the Chairman of the OBC Commission ,Justice M.N. Rao and the Guest of Honour was the Vice President of India’s Soccer Federation, Sh .N.K Bhatia. The Principal, Dr. D.R Saini welcomed all the guests. The Vice Principal, Ms. Shobha Mehta, the two headmistresses, Ms. Vanita Sehgal and Mrs. Anita Singh and the Vice Principal of DPS Shiksha Kendra and coordinator of the event, Mrs. Pushpa Agarwal graced the occasion with their presence. Armaan’s father, Dr.P.N.Dogra was present along with other members of the family. The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the lamp.

Neerav Taneja and Sudeepto Bhattacharya shared their fond memories of their dear friend Armaan with the audience. There was a mesmerizing musical performance by the students followed by an entrancing western dance by the dance troupe. Students of DPS Shiksha Kendra showcased Indian patriotism through a vibrant dance to the tune of Vande Mataram. Tatparya Shankar of class twelve presented his free style football skills. This was followed by an exhibition match played between all stars 9th -11th and class 12th.

Armaan’s father, Dr. P.N Dogra expressed his gratitude toward the school and the teachers. Then began the much awaited prize distribution for all the winners of the tournament from classes six to eleven and the all star teams were awarded medals and trophies. Sarthak Batra was declared as the best goalkeeper; Devansh Tandon, the best forward; Mehar Vasant, the best Girls player; Shiven Trivedi, the best defender and Sanil Khimani the highest scorer of the tournament. Vishrut Rai Khatri bagged the position of the Best player of the tournament. The overall winners were the all star team from Class XI.

The chief guest and the guest of honour congratulated the participants and the event concluded with a vote of thanks by the Vice Principal, Mrs. Shobha Mehta.

The chief guest was Mr. Ashok Chandra, Chairman of the DPS Society. The Principal, Dr. D. R. Saini, the Vice Principal, Mrs. Shobha Mehta, the Vice Principal of DPS Shiksha Kendra ,Mrs. Puspha Agarwal; the two headmistresses, Ms. Vanita Sehgal and Ms.Anita Singh; and Mr. N. Suresh, Head of the Physical Education department, graced the occasion. Armaan’s parents, Dr. P. N. Dogra and his wife along with other family members were present.

The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the lamp. The Principal, Dr. Saini, addressing the students, said that Armaan may not be present physically but he would always be there in everyone’s minds and hearts. Bhumika Batra and Nirav Taneja, Armaan’s friends shared their fond memories of him.

The cultural programme began with a spell-binding performance by the class six Western choir. It was followed by students of DPS Shiksha Kendra presenting various Yoga Asanas. The DPS R.K.Puram dance troupe gave a mesmerizing Aerobics performance followed by a lively German dance. The programme concluded with a unique dance interpretation of the Maharashtrian Ganesh Utsav festival performed by the students of DPS Shiksha Kendra.

Dr. P.N. Dogra, Armaan’s father, in his address, appealed to all the participants to play with sportsmanship, make new friends and strengthen existing friendships. He said that this would be the real tribute to Armaan. The Chairman, Mr. Ashok Chandra highlighted the importance of excelling not only in academics but also in sports. He also said that India needed its young people to be good citizens and outstanding sportspersons so that she could hold her head high. He then declared the tournament officially open. The inaugural match was played between XII I and XII Q. The tournament will carry on in the coming weeks with various intra-school matches.

The opening ceremony on 15 November 2012 was presided over by the chief guest, Mr. Ashok Chandra, Chairman of the DPS Society. The Principal, Dr. D.R. Saini, welcomed all the participants. Present on the occasion were Ms. Pushpa Agarwal, the Vice Principal of DPS Shiksha Kendra and Mr.N.Suresh, Head of the Physical Education department, the coordinators of the programme. The ceremony commenced with the welcoming of the chief guest by the school band. Dr. Saini presented Mr. Chandra with a token of appreciation. The cultural programme comprised a song by Diwakar Singh, a dance performance by the students of DPS Shiksha Kendra and a bhangra performed by the students of DPS R.K. Puram. The chief guest, Mr.Ashok Chandra addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of such sporting events for students. This was followed by the administration of the oath by Mallika Dang, the Vice Head Girl of the school. The chief guest then declared the Meet officially open.

The closing ceremony took place on 17th November and was presided over by Mr. Anil Khanna, President of the All India Tennis Association and the Asian Tennis Federation. The guest of honour was Colonel Amarveer Singh, Director, All India Tennis Association. A cultural programme followed. In the overall results tally, Modern School, Barakhamba Road emerged as the winner in the boys category while among the girls, DPS R.K Puram was the winner.
The event was a treat for sports lovers.

Winners In CBSE National Table Tennis Championship

Riti Shankar (10-F), Aanchal Malhotra (8-I) and Saumya Nanda (10-B) of DPS R.K Puram participated in CBSE National Table Tennis Championship at Durga Public School, Solan held from 28th October to1st November and secured 1st position in U-16 Girls (team) category. Riti Shankar also secured 1st position in U-16 Girls (individual) category.
