Friendly Match against Royal Grammar High School, Wycombe,UK

A friendly cricket match was organised against the visiting team from Royal Grammar High School,Wycombe,UK. Winning the toss, DPS RK Puram elected to bat first. Aryaman Pal(XI-W) and Viren Laungani(X-G) opened the innings and scored 109 runs and 106 runs respectively. Later Keshav Hora(XI-Q) scored 55 runs and Tanishk Dudeja(XI-K) scored 45 n.o. to end the innings of DPS RK Puram. DPS RK Puram scored 410 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated 40 overs.

In reply to the massive total put up by DPS RK Puram, Royal Grammar HIgh School, Wycombe,UK could score 92 runs only . They succumbed to this meagre total because of brilliant bowling performance by Samay Batra(XII-T) who took 6 wickets. He was accompanied by Mayank Malhotra(XI-U) who took 2 wickets. DPS RK Puram won the friendly match against Royal Grammar High School, Wycombe, UK by 318 runs.

Friendly Cricket Match with Newcastle School for Boys,UK

A friendly cricket match was organised against the visiting Newcastle School for Boys,UK. Winning the toss ,DPS RK Puram elected to bat first. Karmanya Daga(XI-Q) and Viren Laungani(X-G) opened the innings and scored 107 n.o. (6×3),(4×16) and 102 n.o.(6×5),(4×11) respectively. The huge opening stand was followed by a quickfire 80 n.o. by Siddhant Paul(XII-P) who accomplished this feat with the help of 9 sixes and 4 fours. At the end of the innings the scoreboard for DPS RK Puram stood at 359 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in 25 overs.

Chasing the target of 360 runs in 25 overs, Newcastle School for Boys were all out for 80 runs. Ishir Hans(IX-M) claimed 4 wickets while Aniket Sharma (X-B) and Aditya Lakhina(XII-T) took 3 wickets each for DPS RK Puram. DPS RK Puram won the match by 279 runs.

The visiting team was introduced to the Principal before the commencement of the match.


All India IPSC Tennis Boys & Girls Championship 2017-18

All India IPSC (Indian Public School Conference) Tennis Boys & Girls Championship Held at  The Emerald Height International School Indore from 9-11 June 2017, DPS R K Puram won the overall championship and Under-19 Boys and Under-17 Girls won Gold Medal in the team championship. Under-17 Boys and Under-14 Boys won Silver Medal in team championship. Rohan Mehra won Gold Medal in the Under-17 Boys individual category, Sukhmani won Silver medal in the Under-17 Girls individual championship.

All India IPSC Chess Boys Championship 2017-18

All India IPSC (Indian Public School Conference) Chess Boys  Championship Held at  The Emerald Height International School Indore from 9-11 June 2017, DPS R. K. Puram won the Under-17 Boys Team Championship and Under-19 Boys won Bronze Medal in the team championship.

Friendly Cricket Match With Cheadle Hulme School Manchester UK

An organised friendly cricket match was played with visiting CHEADLE HULME SCHOOL MANCHESTER U K at the sports complex on 11 April 2017. They won the toss & elected to bat. They were declared all out for 129 runs in the stipulated 30 overs match.

Pratyaksh Mathur and Mansimar Singh claimed 3 wkts each and Keshav Hora claimed 2wkts. While chasing the target of 130 DPS lost one wkt and reached the target in11 overs only. Aryaman Pal scored 61 not out and ,Aryaman Sen scored 52 not out.

The visiting team was introduced to the Principal, Ms Vanita Sehgal before the commencement of the game.

National SMFI Karate Championship 2017

The National SMFI Karate Championship was held at St. Paul’s Diocesan School, New Delhi from 20th-22nd January 2017.
Shreya Goel of Class 10-L, secured the 1st (First) Position in the event ‘Kata’ in the Junior category. She was awarded the Gold Medal. Shreya is also Black Belt in Karate.

Shreya is a very passionate dancer. She has been participating in various Indian Classical dance competitions since the age of 8. She also has interest in Ballet & is performing ballet on the stage for 6 years now.

Recently at an All India Ballet Dance competition “Mosaic of Dance”, Shreya won the First position both in the Classical and Modern Ballet category. She was also awarded “Winner of The Grand Prix.”


LTAT Asian 14 Tennis Tournament

Adi Singh of VIII- B and Ranbir Singh of VI E participated in the LTAT ASIAN 14 Tennis Tournament held at Bangkok from 13th – 18th February 2017.
Adi Singh bagged the 11th position in the U-14 Girls Individual event and was the Quarter finalist in the Doubles event.
Ranbir Singh bagged the 26th position in the U-14 boys Individual event and reached the Pre Quarters in the Doubles event.

The 6th National Lawn Bowl & 2nd National U-25 Lawn Bowl Championship 2017

The tournaments were held at Ranchi (Jharkhand) from 5th to 11th February 2017. Sixteen state teams participated in the championship. Our school students represented Delhi and won Silver and Bronze medals in the Open and U-25 category.

Delhi secured the Third position. Preksha and Aadishwar Singh of VII-C of our school were declared “The most promising player” of the tournament.

The closing ceremony was attended by Ms. Sunaina Kumari, President of BFI and Principal of DPS Ranchi and other dignitaries of the sports bodies.

62nd National Basketball Games 2016

The 62nd School Nationals Basketball Games  2016  were held at Rajnandgaon in Chhattisgarh from 10-14 Dec 2016. Shivansh Sahu of DPS R.K. Puram won a Silver Medal. He was also the winner of the Junior NBA Basketball Championship held at New Delhi.

The 9th Armaan Dogra Memorial Inter-School Football Tournament 2017

The closing ceremony of the 9th Armaan Dogra Memorial Inter-School Football Tournament was held at DPS R.K. Puram on 3rd February 2017. Armaan was a meritorious student of the school, who met with an untimely death. He was an all-rounder and played football passionately. His warmth and exuberance are remembered by all his friends. The tournament is held annually in his memory. Fourteen schools participated in the three-day event.

The various dignitaries present included the Chief Guest, Mr Kapil Dev, the former captain of the Indian cricket team; Mr Pramod Grover, Vice Chairman, Managing Committee, DPS RK Puram and Honorary Treasurer, DPS Society; Dr Shaji Prabhakaran, author and former Regional Head, South and Central Asia for FIFA; Sqn Ldr S.S. Hakeem, the only Indian sportsman who is a football Olympian and an International referee; Ms Oinam Bembem Devi, captain of the Indian Football team at the 11th South Asian Games 2010 and the SAFF Women’s Championship 2012; Mrs Meenakshi Pahuja, Associate Professor at Lady Shri Ram College and an All India Inter-University medalist in swimming; Mr Samip Rajguru, Executive Editor – Sports at India TV channel; Dr. M.C Mishra, Director of AIIMS; Mr John Robinson from Asian News, and Armaan’s parents ,Dr and Mrs P.N. Dogra. Also present were the Principal, Ms Vanita Sehgal, and the Vice Principals, Dr Renu Nayar ,Ms Padma Srinivasan and Ms Anita Singh, and Mr.N.Suresh, Head of the Physical Education department with his team of teachers.

The event began with the lighting of the lamp. The Principal, Ms Vanita Sehgal warmly welcomed all the guests and expressed her appreciation for Dr. and Mrs Dogra’s efforts in ensuring that Armaan’s spirit continues to live on. She shared her view that sports  is the one thing that truly unites us. A minute of silence was observed in Armaan’s memory.

Mr. Kapil Dev, in his address to the students, said that he was delighted to visit the school, and emphasized on the importance of celebrating Armaan’s life by carrying on the legacy of sports.

The much awaited prize distribution ceremony was conducted by Mr Pramod Grover and Mr.Kapil Dev. Modern School, Barakhamba Road secured the third position while DPS Vasant Kunj bagged the second one. DPS R.K. Puram took home the winning trophy. The Best Player award was given to Parth Kothari of DPS R.K. Puram.

The cultural programme presented by the students included a yoga act, an energetic zumba performance and a tuneful song by the school choir.

The cultural programme was followed by an address by Dr. M.C. Mishra, who congratulated all the winners, and spoke about the importance of yoga. Mr Pramod Grover thanked Mr Kapil Dev for taking the time to visit the school, and Dr. Dogra for sponsoring the tournament. He further declared the tournament closed. The Vice Principal, Dr Renu Nayar delivered the vote of thanks and spoke to the students about the importance of fair play.

The programme came to an end with the national anthem.

Indian Golf Union National Tournament

Golf Champion- Tanirika Singh

Tanirika Singh of X-J is a national level golf player. She has been participating in national level golf events since she was eight years old. She was recently Tied second in the IGU (Indian Golf Union) Yes Bank All India Junior Girls Golf Championship held in December 2016. Tanirika also participated in the DLF- IJGA National Qualifier (India) held in January 2017 and was the first runner up. She has won numerous national golf events in the past and has also stood first in the junior girls order of merit. She seeks to be the World’s no. 1 professional golfer. Tanirika Singh has excellent potential and loves to play the game.

31st National Taekwondo Championship

The 31st National Taekwondo Championship was organized from 27th- 30th December 2016 by the Sports Authority of India.

Yashvardhan Ahlawat, of 10-F won a Gold Medal in the U-17 Colour Belts Category.
Praman Verma of 10-D won a Gold and a Silver Medal in 2 different events in the U-17 Black Belts Category.

Sports Day 2016

DPS R.K. Puram organized its Sports Day on 23rd December 2016 with great enthusiasm and zeal. It was a mega event. The chief guest was the Chairman of the DPS Society, Mr.V.K.Shunglu and the Guest of Honour was the famous cricketer and Arjuna Awardee, Mr.Gautam Gambhir. Other prominent dignitaries who attended the event were Dr.D.R.Saini, Director, DPS Society and former Principal of DPS R.K.Puram; Mrs. Vinita Kher, Director, CEM, HRDC, DPS Society; Dr. Sharda Manocha, Joint Director, HRDC, DPS Society; and Mrs Bindu Sehgal, Principal, DPS Vasant Kunj.

The Principal, Ms.Vanita Sehgal, the Vice Principals, Dr.Renu Nayar, Ms.Anita Singh and Ms.Padma Srinivasan and the Head of the Physical Education department, Mr.Suresh with his team of teachers were present on the occasion.

The Sports Day was celebrated in keeping with the spirit of the Olympic motto, “Citius, Altius, Fortius”. It began with a march past by the sportspersons of the school. The Principal felicitated the Chief Guest and extended a warm welcome to all those present. She congratulated the students who participated in the events. She exhorted the students to, ‘do everything in life with passion’ and to always be themselves.

There was a spectacular Yoga performance for all. Thereafter, the Cricket bowled out Finals took place, where the students got a chance to see Mr.Gautam Gambhir play in front of their eyes. Rhythm and energy were combined in an enthralling show of Aerobic exercises by the students. The students of the school got a golden opportunity to have an interactive session with Mr. Gautam Gambhir. He shared various anecdotes of his life and told the students to enjoy whatever they do and not to think about success or failure.

The 200 metre race finals for girls and boys of all categories took place. The young martial artists presented an energetic act. As a tribute to Lord Ganesha, the school showcased a magnificent lezim performance. This was followed by the 4×100 metre Relay Finals for boys and girls under all categories. Mr. Gambhir along with the Chairman, Mr. V.K.Shunglu, Mrs. Shunglu, Ms. Vanita Sehgal and the other guests presented the awards to the winners of all the games. The school choir gave a scintillating performance, celebrating the champion in all of us.

In a surprise event, parents played musical chairs and enjoyed it thoroughly. The Chief Guest, Mr. Shunglu congratulated the winners and emphasized the importance of team spirit among the students. The Vice Principal, Dr. Renu Nayar delivered the vote of thanks. The Sports Day concluded with the National Anthem.

28th Delhi State Taekwondo Championship 2016

The 28th Delhi State Taekwondo Championship was held at the Thyagraj Stadium from the 1st to the 4th of December 2016.The students of DPS R.K.Puram won 5 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.

Inter DPS Tennis Girls Open Championship 2016

The All India Inter DPS Tennis Girls Open Championship was held at DPS Sonepat from 9-11 December 2016. DPS R.K. Puram won the overall Championship and Riddhi Ramesh Sharma of Class XI was declared the best player of the tournament.

The Delhi State Chess Championship 2016

The Delhi State Ranking Chess Championship was held at the Indira Gandhi Stadium from the 24th to the 26th of November 2106. DPS R.K. Puram won the U-19 Team Championship.

The All India IPSC Basketball Girls U-17 Championship 2016

The All India IPSC Basketball Girls U-17 Championship 2016 was held at DPS Mathura Road from the 12th to 14th of November 2016, DPS R.K. Puram participated in the tournament and won the 1st Runners up trophy.

The All India Inter DPS Tennis Boys Championship-2016

The All India Inter DPS Tennis Boys Championship 2016 was held at DPS Yamuna Nager from the 26th to 28th of November 2016, DPS R.K .Puram participated in the tournament and won the 1st Runners up trophy. Rohan Mehra , Tarush Bagai and Utkarsh Mishra participated Rohan Mehra of class IX was declared the best player of the tournament.

5th South Asian Taekwon-Do Championship and 13th South and West Indian Taekwon-Do Championship
