Visit of the Japanese Delegation from Kunori Gakuen High School, Yamagata

Under the aegis of the Jenesys 2.0 Dispatching Programme – High School Students Exchange Programme- 12 girls and 7 boys from Kunori Gakuen High School in Japan visited Delhi Public School, R.K.Puram on Thursday,24 July 2014. They were accompanied by two teachers: Mr Suzuki Sei and Mr Iwaya Yoshihiko and two co-ordinators from JICE: Mr Kurihara and Ms Obara.

The students were accorded a traditional Indian welcome with flower garlands and ‘tilak’. This was followed by the lighting of the lamp to the strains of Sanskrit shlokas. The visitors then proceeded to the school auditorium where the Principal, Dr D.R.Saini welcomed the guests and praised the culture of Japan with its ethos of patience, punctuality and hard-work. The students enjoyed a presentation on Indian Culture followed by a scintillating performance on the ‘Dances of India’.

The Japanese students in turn, showed an interesting Power point presentation showcasing various aspects of the Japanese Culture followed by dances; both traditional and modern. The audience, comprising students of Class 10, enjoyed the performances.

The Headmistress, Vanita Sehgal, said that the presentation by the Japanese students was so fascinating that it made one yearn to visit the country.

The students also observed an English Class taught by the Headmistress, Ms. Vanita Sehgal, and then proceeded on a tour of the school and the Sports Complex where the boys played a friendly football match with the school team. They also spent a lot of time interacting with the Japanese students of DPS RKPuram.

The visit ended with a touching farewell between the Japanese students and their Indian counterparts.
