On 3May 2013, the school had the proud privilege of a visit by Her Excellency, Mrs. Chikako Aso, wife of the Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister of Japan. She was accompanied by Mrs. Akiko Yagi, spouse of the Ambassador of Japan to India; Ms. Aya Yoshida, Counsellor, Embassy Of Japan (translator); Mr. Kei Eda, First Secretary of EOJ(Embassy Of Japan); Mr.Seiji Ohno, First Secretary, EOJ; Mr.Nahoko Munechika, Third Secretary, EOJ and Mr. Masahiro Suto, Attache, EOJ. The objective of the visit was to achieve a greater understanding of the Indian education system and to explore the various possibilities of collaboration between the two countries in the field of education.
The guests were welcomed with the lighting of the lamp. The Principal, Dr. D.R. Saini expressed his pleasure at meeting the visitors. The Chairman of the DPS Society, Mr.Ashok Chandra was present on the occasion and had a fruitful interaction with the guests.They were presented with the tokens of appreciation. The cultural program commenced with the orchestra. A skit, “Charlie and The Chocolate Factory” was put up by the students. The school choir sang “Sekai Ni Hitotsu Dake No Hana” and a scintillating dance performance followed. The program ended with the national anthem of both the nations. Ms. Vanita Sehgal, Headmistress of the Middle School and coordinator of the event, played the gracious host. Also present on the occasion was the Vice Principal, Mrs. Shobha Mehta , the Headmistress, Ms. Anita Singh and Ms.Surbhi Gaur, the Japanese teacher. The delegates were taken on a tour of the school campus and shown the infrastructure of the school which included their visit to the Math Lab and the Japanese classes being held in the school, to get an insight into the teaching system in India. The visit of the Japanese delegates was an exciting experience for one and all.
