VISIT OF H.H. PUJYA SWAMI CHIDANAND SARASWATI

Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram had the proud privilege of a visit by H.H. Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswati, the President and spiritual head of the Parmarth Niketan Ashram, Rishikesh on 28 August 2015 . He was accompanied with Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati. Pujya Swamiji is also the founder and spiritual head of the Hindu Jain Temple in Pittsburgh. The Principal, Dr. D. R. Saini; Vice Principal, Ms. Shobha Mehta and other teachers were also
present.

The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp and felicitation of Swamiji and Sadhviji. A tree plantation drive was carried out in the school premises. Swamiji donated 7,000 tree saplings to the school and encouraged the students to plant fruit trees.

The Principal, Dr. D.R. Saini extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests. The cultural programme began with a mesmerising performance by the school orchestra. This was followed by the ‘Nritya Yoga’ dance, bringing together the two disciplines of dance and yoga. The school choir performed a beautiful ‘Saraswati Vandana.’ An Indian classical dance performance also enthralled the audience.

Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of treating the environment with compassion and care. H.H. Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswati then shared his thoughts, applauding all students present and encouraging them to believe in themselves and attain inner peace. He also stressed on the importance of time management and initiated the beginning of ‘My Tree-My School’, where the number of trees in the school is equivalent to the number of students enrolled.

The Vice Principal, Mrs. Shobha Mehta delivered the vote of thanks and motivated the students to spread awareness about the importance of trees. The event concluded with the National Anthem and was a fruitful experience for all present.
