A seminar on Human Life and Peace was held at Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram on 7 November 2012 in the audio visual hall. The Principal, Dr. D. R. Saini, the Vice Principal, Mrs Shobha Mehta, the Headmistress, Ms.Vanita Sehgal, Ms. Mamta Sharma, the education counsellor and Ms. Vandana Chandoke were present.
The lecture was delivered by the famous Dr. Robert Kittel of United States. He is the Director of Education of UPF-Asia, the Universal Peace Federation. He is also the founder President of Pure Love Alliance in United States, an international movement for peace in our lives. He was accompanied by Dr. Sreerupa Mitra Chaudhury, Chairperson of Women’s Federation for World Peace, India and Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, India. The two visitors were welcomed with bouquets.
Dr.Kittel addressed the students and teachers and talked about the importance of the youth in nation building. He stressed on the need to train young minds in the principles of altruism, instilling a sense of responsibility in them and the value of selflessness. This, he felt, would go a long way towards removing corruption and other social evils. He explained his concepts through examples from various religions like Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism and Buddhism. He asked the audience to “live for others and sacrifice, without expecting any reward”. He dwelt on to the issue of emotional maturity, stressing the sanctity of human relationships and responsible sexual behaviour.
The event was a great success and the students found the lecture to be an extremely enriching and thought provoking.
