‘Theatron’14

The Expressions Theatre Club of Delhi Public School, R.K Puram held a theatrical extravaganza, ‘Theatron’14 on 2 May 2014. Around 20 schools from across Delhi and NCR participated in the event. The competition comprised of two categories: ‘Face off’ and ‘Spotlight’, the stage play, for which the topics were “It’s all in the mind” and “In this silent world, even one voice can make a difference”.
The event commenced with a soothing performance by the Indian music choir. The Principal, Dr.D.R.Saini welcomed the guests. The judges for the stage play were Mr. Rajesh Tiwari, a Theatre Activist who has shaped the “Natkhat Performers” and Ms. Neelanjana Banerjee, the Assistant Editor and Anchor with indiapositive.com, India’s first live conversation web TV. The judges for the ‘Face off’ were Mr. Ajitabh Singh and Mr. Sparsh Rana, former students of the school who are actively involved in theatre in Delhi University. Also present were the Vice Principal, Mrs.Shobha Mehta; Vice Principal of DPS Shiksha Kendra, Ms. Pushpa Agarwal and the Head of the Expressions Theatre Club, Ms. Azra Saleem, who coordinated the event.
The judges shared their views about the performance of the students with the audience, and emphasized on the significance of ‘out of the box’ thinking. This was followed by the much awaited prize distribution ceremony. The first position in the stage play was bagged by Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan followed by the Sanskriti School and Army Public School in the second and third positions respectively. The award for the Best Actor was given to Vasudev and Rohit of Sanskriti School. The first position in the ‘Face offs’ was secured by Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan. The second position was won by DPS RK Puram, however, being the host school, the trophy was awarded to Apeejay School, Pitampura followed by Springdales School, Pusa Road in the third place. The prize for the overall winners was awarded to Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan.
The event was a treat for all theatre enthusiasts.
