The annual moot-court competition ‘UKASE’ was held at DPS R.K. Puram on 11 October 2013. Moot court is an activity and competition in which students participate in the preparation, presentation and arguing selected cases. UKASE provided the students from 8 participating schools to showcase their talent in front of judges, practicing High Court lawyers, Mr. Raghav Awasthi and Mr. Shalabh Gupta. The co-ordinator of the event was the Head of the Sociology Department at DPS R.K.Puram, Dr. Rita Khanna.
During the event, the participants put forward a ten minute opening statement followed by an intense discussion on the given topics. These ranged from stringent action for acts like eve teasing and stalking to appropriate punishments for offences like abuse of minors and even the Nirbhaya rape case.
The judge, Mr. Shalabh Gupta, shared a few words on the opportunities the legal sector has to offer and then announced the results. Vasant Valley School, Vasant Kunj bagged the first prize. Mount Carmel, Dwarka and K.I.I.T. World School, Pitampura won the second and third prizes respectively. UKASE went a long way in broadening the horizons of the students and helped them gain the confidence to present their case in front of an audience.
