The Scholar Badge ceremony for class VII for sections G-K, was held on 29 January 2015.The ceremony is a much awaited event where students receive acknowledgement for academic as well as extracurricular excellence. The Chief Guest for the day was the Australian High Commissioner, His Excellency Patrick Suckling. The Principal, Dr. D.R Saini; the Vice-Principal, Mrs Shobha Mehta; the Headmistresses, Ms. Vanita Sehgal and Mrs. Anita Singh, were also present.
Students waving Indian flags greeted the Chief Guest as he arrived. The ceremony began with the Indian Orchestra of the school performing ‘Raag Bahaar’. The children of Class VII welcomed the Chief Guest. A short presentation highlighted the achievements of the students on the national as well as international platforms. The Principal extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest.
The cultural programme commenced with the Western Choir performing ‘Earth Song’. This was followed by a play titled “Virtue and Wise” which depicted the plight of a student torn between right and wrong. An inspiring play – it showed that good must win over evil and hard work is the only key to success. The next act was a street play performed in Hindi, promoting, once again ‘Swachh Bharat’. The play ended with the slogan “Swachh Bharat, Safal Bharat”. The street play incorporated a dance on “Swachh Bharat ka Iraada”.
Yoga was performed by the students of class VII, bringing to light the benefits of yoga in the revitalisation of thought, mind and soul. Students of DPS Shiksha Kendra performed a lively dance.
H.E. Patrick Suckling addressed the audience and spoke about Indo-Australian relations. He complimented the students and teachers.
The Class Representative, Mrs.Dimple Menon, conducted the Awards Distribution Ceremony. The Chief Guest, H.E. Patrick Suckling, the Principal, Dr. D.R. Saini and Headmistress, Mrs Anita Singh presented the scholar badges, blazers and certificates to the worthy students.
The Headmistress, Mrs Anita Singh, proposed the vote of thanks and the ceremony ended with the National Anthem.
