SCHOLAR BADGE CEREMONY OF CLASS IX – SECTIONS A-G

The scholar badge ceremony of class IX – Sections A-G for the academic year 2014-2015 was held on 11th February 2016. The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. The Chief Guest was Mr. Kunal Bahl, the Co-founder and CEO of Snapdeal and the Guest of Honour was Mr. Jai A.Dehadrai, the Managing Partner of Dehadrai & Co.

The school orchestra welcomed the guests with a beautiful performance. The Principal, Dr. D. R. Saini felicitated the chief guest with a token of appreciation. The annual progress report of the school, showing the various achievements of the school was presented in the form of a Power Point Presentation. The Principal addressed the gathering; he spoke fondly of the chief guest and the guest of honour, who also happened to be alumni of the school. Referring to them as examples, he highlighted how the baton of excellence has passed on from generation to generation in the school.

The theme of the Scholar Badge Ceremony for class IX was, ‘The only thing we have to fear is fear itself’ by Franklin D. Roosevelt. The cultural programme comprised a song and a mesmerizing dance performance which spread the message that a tiny speck of light can go on to illuminate the world.

The Guest of Honour, Mr. Jai A.Dehadrai addressed the gathering and spoke about the responsibility that comes with being the best. He also expressed his gratitude to all the teachers for helping him every step of the way. In his address, the Chief Guest, Mr. Kunal Bahl applauded the performers and emphasized that failure is not to be feared as it is inevitable; however it is important not to let failure define one’s life. He also spoke about the need to follow one’s heart and to work hard for the goals one has set.

The award ceremony was conducted by Ms. Sunita Johar, the Representative of class IX. The Chief Guest, Mr Kunal Bahl, The Guest of Honour, Mr. Jai Dehadrai, the Prinicipal,Dr. D.R. Saini and the Vice Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal decorated the students. 113 students received blue badges, 4 received second green badges, 10 got Blazers, 17 were awarded the first green badge and 25 students were decorated for excelling in co-curricular activities.

The Vice Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal delivered the vote of thanks and congratulated the students. She related the story of a king who would give the prisoners an option to take the rope or to walk out of a door which looked menacing. All the prisoners chose the rope not realizing that the beyond the door was freedom and beauty. With this example, she urged students not to be afraid to tread the unbeaten path. The programme ended with the national anthem.
