DPS R.K. Puram hosted the annual Scholar Badge Ceremony of Class XI (Sections F – L, U – X) on 16 December 2016. The ceremony is an acknowledgement of the academic and co-curricular excellence of the students.
The Chief Guest was His Excellency Mr. Nadir Patel, High Commissioner of Canada to India. The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp. The Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal felicitated the chief guest and he was given a hearty welcome by the Indian orchestra of the school. Also present were Mr. Anuj Bhasin, Mr. Kareem Rahimtulla, Mr. Palash Roy Chaudhary, and the Vice Principals, Ms. Padma Srinivasan and Dr. Renu Nayar. A short film of the school’s achievements was screened.
The Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal addressed the gathering, thanking Mr. Patel for taking the time to visit the school. She elucidated the importance of the school’s motto, ‘Service before Self’ and congratulated the students for their excellence. The cultural program presented by students focused on the ideal of patriotism and the spirit of service before self.
In his address, the Chief Guest talked about the various opportunities for higher education in Canada and emphasized on the importance of education, saying that it is not only academics, but a well rounded personality that truly matters in life.
The award distribution was conducted by the Class XI representative, Ms.Richa Aggarwal. The awards were handed to the students by Ms. Vanita Sehgal, Dr. Renu Nayar, and Mr. Nadir Patel. The Prantik Roy Memorial Gold Medal was awarded by Mr. Palash Roy Chaudhary to Shivin Uppal of Class XI-P for being the most outstanding student of Class X.
Dr. Renu Nayar delivered the vote of thanks. The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem of India, followed by that of Canada.
