Delhi Public School, R. K. Puram hosted the Scholar Badge Ceremony of Class IX (Sections A-M) on 20th December 2016. The Scholar Badge Ceremony is the most anticipated event for the students as they receive acknowledgement and are awarded for their meritorious performance in academics and extracurricular activities. The Chief Guest for the event was Ms. Saumya Gupta, Director (Education) NCT of Delhi, Directorate of Education and a former student of DPS R.K.Puram.
The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp and the mesmerising classical composition performed by the school orchestra. The Principal, Ms.Vanita Sehgal felicitated the chief guest, Ms. Saumya Gupta. The Vice Principals, Dr. Renu Nayar, Mrs.Anita Singh and Ms.Padma Srinivasan were also present on the occasion.
The Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal welcomed the chief guest and parents. Congratulating the students for their achievements, she thanked the parents for their support .She shared various anecdotes of her life and motivated the students. In the cultural programme, the students highlighted the theme, “the real joy in life is not in what you get but in what you give”. The skit was backed by some magnificent dances and a sensational performance by the choir.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms.Saumya Gupta congratulated the students for their achievements and commended them for the beautiful cultural presentation. She emphasised that, “all we need is a calling, an inspiration about what we want to do in life” and shared anecdotes of her school years.
The class nine representatives, Ms.Ashima Aggarwal and Ms.Ritu Kumar, conducted the Award Distribution ceremony. The Chief Guest, Ms. Saumya Gupta, the Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal and the Vice Principal, Mrs.Anita Singh presented the badges, blazers and certificates to the worthy students. In memory of Armaan Dogra, the Armaan Dogra Memorial Award to the Best All-rounder for the year 2015-16 was presented to Sagnik Anupam from section 9 G.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs.Anita Singh, who thanked the Principal for her vision and the parents for their continuous support. She expressed her gratitude to all the teachers involved in making the ceremony a success. The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.
