Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram hosted the scholar badge ceremony of Class XIIon the 29th of November 2012. The chief guest was Rear Admiral M. M. Chopra, Vice Chairman, DPS Society and Member, Managing Committee, DPS R.K. Puram. The guest of honour, Ms. Poonam Suri, presenter and founder of the Ishwar Chand Memorial Awards; Ms. Das, Secretary, DPS Society and Vice Principal, Ms. Shobha Mehta also graced the occasion. The Principal, Dr. D. R. Saini welcomed the chief guest and guest of honour by presenting them with bouquets.
The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the lamp which was followed by a spectacular performance by the school orchestra. A short video clip on the achievements of the school was screened. The Principal addressed the students and stressed on the importance of honesty and sincerity. He thanked the chief guest and parents for their presence at this momentous occasion.
The school choir rendered a melodious symphony of a beautiful Hindi song that left the audience spellbound. This performance was followed by yet another enthralling performance by the dancers of Class XI. There was also a motivational video on Nick Vujicic, a man suffering from tetra-amelia syndrome, a rare disorder characterised by the absence of all four limbs. He never gave up on life and faced every challenge head on, no matter how difficult the circumstances were. It was an emotionally charged moment for everyone.
Kartik Sawhney, Kartik Srivastav and Radhika Aggarwal, students of Class XII expressed their thoughts and views on their inspirations and how DPS. R.K. Puram has motivated them to pursue their passions. Avichal Bhatnagar and Shivangi Vardhan voiced their opinions in Hindi for the same. A graceful dance performance by the students of DPS Shiksha Kendra, depicting Ganesh Vandana followed.
Admiral Chopra was welcomed on the stage with a huge round of applause. “Coming to DPS RK Puram is like a pilgrimage to me,” he said. He praised Dr. Saini for his earnest commitment which has led to tremendous progress of the school. He spoke about the changing scenario in the field of education and how students must face new challenges responsibly. He informed the students of the “new world” they were on the brink of entering.
The much awaited award distribution began. The chief guest along with the Principal and Vice Principal distributed the awards to the students. Mrs. Mehta delivered the vote of thanks. The ceremony concluded with the national anthem.
