Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram hosted the scholar badge ceremony of Class XII on the 5 December 2013.The scholar badge is an important event in the school calendar with the prime objective of acknowledging talent and promoting excellence in academics and extra-curricular activities. The chief guest was Rear Admiral M. M. Chopra, Vice Chairman of the DPS Society and Member of the Managing Committee of DPS R.K. Puram. The guest of honor was Ms. Poonam Suri, the presenter and founder of the Ishwar Chand Memorial Awards. The Principal, DR. D. R. Saini welcomed the guests and presented them with bouquets.
The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the lamp followed by an enthralling performance by the school orchestra. A short video clip on the achievements of the school was screened. The Principal welcomed the parents. The school choir sang a beautiful self composed, acapella song that left the audience spell bound. This was followed by a motivational video on overcoming obstacles with clips of interviews with the youth icon, Steve Jobs.
Various students of class XII expressed their views on the importance of dreams and hard work and how the school played an integral part in their metamorphosis over the past 14 years. The students of DPS Shiksha Kendra and D.P.S R.K.Puram presented beautiful folk and classical dances.
The chief guest, Rear Admiral M.M Chopra quoted passages from the Holy Scriptures in Urdu and elaborated on the teachings of Lord Krishna on how to achieve success and happiness in life. He received a standing ovation from the audience.
The much-awaited award ceremony began with Mr. Sachinder Sharma, Representative of Class XII, congratulating the recipients of the various awards. Meritorious students were awarded gold medals, blue ties, blazers and badges for continuous academic excellence and gold medals, red ties, blazers and badges were given to students excelling in extra-curricular activities like sports, music and dance. The vote of thanks was given by the Vice Principal, Mrs. Shobha Mehta. It was a proud moment for the parents present. The ceremony concluded with the national anthem.
