The Scholar Badge ceremony for class VIII, sections G- L was held on 17 February 2015. It is a much awaited event where students receive acknowledgement for excellence in the field of academics as well as extracurricular activities.
The Chief Guest for the event was Mr. Amarjeet Sinha, Additional Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. Also present on the occasion were the Principal, Dr. D.R Saini; the Vice-Principal, Ms. Shobha Mehta; the Headmistresses, Ms. Vanita Sehgal and Mrs. Anita Singh; the Vice Principal of DPS Shiksha Kendra, Ms. Pushpa Agarwal ; and the teacher incharges, Ms. Sunita Johar and Ms. Ritu Kumar.
The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the lamp and felicitation of the guests followed by a mellifluous performance by the Indian Orchestra. A clip highlighting the achievements of the students in various fields was shown to the audience. The Principal, Dr. D.R. Saini, addressed the gathering and extended a warm welcome to all present. In the cultural programme, the students of Shiksha Kendra enthralled the audience with their mesmerizing dance performance showcasing the life of Ashoka. The students of class VIII expressed their views on the role of love and peace and depicted it through a scintillating dance-drama. The students talked about the principles of liberty and freedom in French. The Western Music Choir performed a melodious rendition of the song ‘Wake Up’.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest, Mr. Amarjeet Sinha, expressed his views on success and the importance of team effort.
The Class Representative, Ms. Ritu Kumar, conducted the Award Distribution ceremony. The Chief Guest, Mr. Amarjeet Sinha; the Principal, Dr. D.R. Saini and Headmistress, Ms. Vanita Sehgal presented the scholar badges, blazers and certificates to the worthy students.
The Headmistress, Ms. Vanita Sehgal delivered the vote of thanks. The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.
