SCHOLAR BADGE CEREMONY – CLASS VIII (SECTIONS A- F)

The Scholar Badge ceremony for class VIII, sections A- F was held on 3 February 2015 from 8:00 am onwards in the school’s Audio Visual Hall. It is a much awaited event where students are felicitated for academic as well as extra-curricular excellence. The Chief Guest for the day was Mr. Chetan Prakash Jain, Member, Staff Selection Commission, Government of India. Also present was Mr.Kashi Nath Ram, Deputy Director of the Staff Selection Commission. The Principal, Dr. D.R Saini; the Vice-Principal, Mrs Shobha Mehta; and the Headmistresses, Ms. Vanita Sehgal and Mrs. Anita Singh welcomed all the guests.
The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp in the foyer outside the Principal’s office followed by a presentation by the Indian Orchestra group. The children of Class VIII welcomed the Chief Guest. A short presentation highlighted the achievements of the students in academic and extracurricular activities on a national and international platform.

The cultural programme commenced with a performance by the students of DPS Shiksha Kendra, dancing to “Ashoka Samrat”, which showcased the life of Ashoka and emphasized the importance of harmony in the world. The students of class VIII expressed their views about the turmoil of war. This was followed by a dance presentation on the problems faced by the people of the world and the urgent requirement for peace.

The Indian and Western Vocal Music choir sang songs in Hindi and English. Another student spoke in French, highlighting the importance of liberty and freedom for peace to reign in the world.

The chief guest, Mr Chetan Prakash Jain, expressed his views about the importance of hard work and dedication to achieve success.

The Class Representative, Ms. Ritu Kumar, conducted the Awards Distribution ceremony. The Chief Guest, Mr. Chetan Prakash Jain; the Principal, Dr. D.R. Saini and Headmistress, Ms. Vanita Sehgal presented the scholar badges, blazers and certificates to the worthy students.

The Headmistress, Ms. Vanita Sehgal delivered the vote of thanks. Addressing the students, she stressed on the importance of finding happiness and peace of mind in their lives. The ceremony ended with the National Anthem.
