The Scholar Badge Ceremony of Class 8, sections A to F, was held on 17th March 2016. Students were awarded certificates on the basis of their outstanding academic, sports and co-curricular achievements.
The Chief Guest for the occasion was Prof. Malay Neerav, Joint Dean, Students’ Welfare and Media Coordinator, Delhi University. The special guest for the day was Ms. Saumya Gupta, IAS, Managing Director and CEO of Delhi Tourism and Transportation Dev. Corp. She is also a proud alumnus of DPS R.K. Puram. Also present were the Principal, Dr. D.R. Saini; along with the Vice Principals, Ms. Vanita Sehgal and Ms. Padma Srinivasan.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp. Dr. D.R. Saini welcomed the guests. The cultural programme started with the melodious sounds of the school choir. The next event was the tableaux, which emphasized on the need for education to eradicate social evils such as child labour, gender discrimination and child marriage. The cultural event ended with a beautiful dance performance by the students.
In her address to the students, Ms. Saumya Gupta exhorted them to do their best in whatever they do. The Chief Guest, Prof. Malay Neerav expressed the view that there was tremendous potential in the present generation. He urged parents and teachers to help students realize their true potential and allow them the freedom to make their own decisions in life.
Ms. Ritu Kumar, representative of class VIII, hosted the award ceremony along with the Principal,Dr. D.R. Saini; the Vice Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal; the chief guest, Prof. Malay Neerav; and Ms. Saumya Gupta, the special guest of the occasion.
Ms. Vanita Sehgal delivered the vote of thanks. The programme ended with the national anthem.
