The Scholar Badge Ceremony for class VII, sections A-F was held on 28 January 2015 from 8:00 am onwards in the school Audio-Visual Hall. The Scholar Badge Ceremony is a much awaited event by parents, students and teachers as students receive acknowledgement for academic as well as extracurricular excellence. The Chief Guest for the day was Mr. Tajender Singh Luthra (IPS), the Joint Commissioner of Police – South Western Range; and an established Chartered accountant. The Principal, Dr. D.R Saini; the Vice-Principal, Mrs Shobha Mehta; the Headmistresses, Ms. Vanita Sehgal and Mrs. Anita Singh, were also present.
Students waving Indian flags stood to greet the Chief Guest as he arrived. The ceremony began with the sounds of instruments in perfect harmony ringing through the air, performed by the Indian Orchestra of the school. The children of Class VII then addressed the crowd and welcomed the Chief Guest. A short presentation highlighted the achievements of the students on a national as well as international platform. The Principal extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest.
The cultural programme commenced with a performance by the Indian Classical Music Choir singing “Swachh Bharat”. This was followed by a play which depicted the plight of a student torn between right and wrong; the inner struggle of doing hard work versus all fun and games. An inspiring play- it showed that good must win over evil and hard work is the only key to success. The next act was a street play performed in Hindi promoting, once again, ‘Swachh Bharat’ and cleanliness for a developing nation focusing on cleanliness being the road to a better country and community; the play ended with the slogan “Swachh Bharat, Safal Bharat”. The street play incorporated a dance on “Swachh Bharat ka Khela”.
Yoga was performed by the students of class VII, bringing to light the benefits of yoga in the revitalisation of thought, mind and soul. Students of DPS Shiksha Kendra performed a lively dance.
Mr. Tajender Singh Luthra, expressed his delight at being invited to attend the ceremony and praised the parents for the hard work they put in for their children. He concluded an inspiring speech of hard work and dedication by stating “Having an attitude of gratitude and being humble is the key to success”.
The Class Representative, Mrs. Mini Rathore, conducted the Awards Distribution Ceremony. The Chief Guest, Mr Tajender Singh Luthra, the Principal, Dr. D.R. Saini and Headmistress, Mrs Anita Singh presented the scholar badges, blazers and certificates to the worthy students.
The Headmistress, Mrs Anita Singh, proposed the vote of thanks. The ceremony ended with the National Anthem.
