Inter School Festival-Utsav-2017

Utsav-2017, an Interschool Poster Art/ Calligraphy Art/ Book Cover Competition was held on 11 August 2017, at Manav Bharati India International School, Panchsheel Park, New Delhi. A number of schools from Delhi NCR participated in the competition. Students from classes 6-12 participated in various categories and won the following awards:

1st Sarla Birla Memorial English Critical Thinking Conclave

Birla Vidya Niketan, Pushp Vihar, Saket organised an Inter-school Multi Format Debate on 19 August 2017. Uday Bansal, a Class XII student of Delhi Public School R.K.Puram was declared the ‘Best Speaker’ in the Turn Coat Round. He was awarded a merit certificate and a book titled ‘Discover Your Destiny’ by Robin Sharma as a memento.



Inter School Hindi Debate- Vasant Valley School

Vasant Valley School conducted its Annual Hindi Debate on 05 August 2017. The competition comprised of three rounds- Oxford style debate, Turncoat debate and Parliamentary style debate. Sixteen schools participated in the competition from all over Delhi-NCR.

Uday Bansal XII O and Sanskriti XII B, students of DPS RK Puram won the ‘ Best Speaker Award’ and the ‘Best Interjector Award in the Oxford style Debate respectively.



Hindi Debate at Manav Bharti International School

On 11th August 2017 Manav Bharti International school had organised Hindi Debate. Siddharth Sethi of class XI T and Akshat Goel of Class XI J secured overall the second position. Siddharth Sethi got the third prize individually.



Razzmatazz 2017

A state level Western Music competition was held at Amity International School, Pushp Vihar on the 24 August, 2017. Eighteen schools from around the state participated in the competition. The Competition consisted of two categories:  Band and Duet.

  • The duet song was performed by Raj Bakshi XI K and Shloke Meresh XI T Shrey Gupta XII P on the guitar. They sang ‘Boxer’ by Simon and Garfunkle and bagged the second position.
  • The band consisted of a five-member team Vedant Shandilya XI H (Vocal), Dev Taneja XII Q (Lead Guitar), Lakshaya Grover XII M (Bass), Rishabh Jain XII O(Keyboard), Aryaman Kiri XII X (Drums) who performed ‘Lines in the Sand’ by Dream Theatre and were awarded Best Bassist, Best Lead Guitarist and Best Drummer of the competition.

The team from D.P.S R.K.Puram was declared the overall winners and were given the trophy for the same.



Rhythm 17 – Western Music Competition

A Western Singing Competition under the theme ‘Life and Love in the Family’ was held at Holy Child Auxilium School, Vasant Vihar on Friday 25 August 2017. 14 schools participated in the competition and the team from DPS R.K Puram stood at 2nd position. The team consisted of 15 students.

 NDTV Students’ Conclave on ‘Behtar India’

The students of DPS R.K.Puram participated in the NDTV Student’s Conclave on ‘Behtar India’ on August 4,2017. This programme endeavours to mobilise school students, ordinary citizens and corporates to contribute to this nationwide campaign of social change which covers three core aspects of health, hygiene and environment in the country. Schools from all over the country were invited for the programme. The students of class XII who got the opportunity to be a part of the programme were – Angelina Dash, Mehvash Saiyed, Riya Rohatgi, Arnav Singh, Mihir Bedi, Shivin Uppal, Ishitwa and Raunaq Sharma.

The conclave started with an interactive session with the NDTV Behtar India Brand Ambassador  Sushant Singh Rajput where he addressed the students and shared his experiences and vision to move forward towards making India cleaner, greener and safer.

This was followed by a second session which included a panel discussion with several high profile politicians, including Shazia Ilmi, Priya Dutt and Aitishree Samal. This discussion was moderated by Vikram Chandra. The panelists answered the questions of the students and explained why the contribution of the students to such social initiatives was a key factor in keeping the political parties answerable to the people of the country.

The third session included some young minds who spoke about their inventions and initiatives to make India a better India, a ‘Behtar India’. Deepa Karmakar, Malavath Poorna amongst others shared their experiences of how they overcame hurdles in their own life to achieve success by persevering and by sheer grit. This interactive session endeavoured to inspire the students by the success stories shared by these young achievers to follow their dreams, take up initiatives and endeavour to contribute to making a Behtar India, each in their own way . The students enjoyed the sessions  and there was a lot to be learnt and imbibed. It is an excellent initiative towards leadership training and igniting the spark in the impressionable young minds to start early and  contribute towards the much needed social change in the country.



Sarla Birla Memorial Critical Thinking Conclave  ‘Utsav’  Inter School Competition 2017-18

Sarla Birla Memorial Critical Thinking Conclave ‘UTSAV’, an annual inter school competition was organised by Birla Vidya Niketan Pushp Vihar on 17 Aug 2017 .

DPS RK Puram bagged the First Prize in the Social Science Quiz . The topic was ‘Indian Struggle For Independence with special reference to Gandhian Philosophy’.

Nishant Nanda of XD and Shikhar Sarangi of IX I represented the school. They competed against 10 teams from schools across Delhi & N.C.R.



Infinitus Reus 2017

The Quizzing Club Of Delhi Public School, R.K.Puram conducted an Inter school Quiz Competition on 12 August 2017 in the school premises. 25 schools from Delhi NCR participated with 65 teams in various categories of the General Open Quiz.

The program started at 8.00am with the registration of teams and ended at 4.00pm after the prize distribution. The response from various the schools was very encouraging. The questions covered a variety of topics as it was a general quiz. The participants ranged from classes VII to XII.

The Competition commenced with a written preliminary round from which 13 teams were chosen for the semi-finals. The first and second semi-finals had 6 and 7 teams respectively competing to win the honours. Six teams competed in the finals.

The teams from DPS Noida won the 1st and 2nd prizes respectively and the team from St.Columbas School bagged the 3rd prize.

Ms. Vanita Sehgal, Principal DPS R.K.Puram gave away the prizes and honoured the winners.



Rubino 17-Inter School Music Competition

An Inter School Music Competition was held at St. Francis School, Janak Puri on 11 August 2017. Eight schools participated in the competition which consisted of 2 categories. The team from DPS RK Puram won the 1st position in Group Song and 2nd position in Solo performance. The team consisted of 10 students.

Annual Inter School Indian Instrumental Music Competition-2017

The Annual Interschool Indian Instrumental Music Competition was hosted by Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram in the memory of Swargadeep Kobi Raj, who was an excellent table player on 19 August 2017. Mr. Naushad Ahmed, a renowned tabla player and Mr. Moushin Ali Khan, an eminent sitar player were the judges for the event.

The event commenced recounting Swargdeep’s virtues followed by the address by the Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal, who welcomed the participants from 11 schools and emphasized that ‘Life without music is dull’. The event gave numerous children a platform to showcase their talents in the field of Indian music. The mother of Kobi Raj presented a painting to the school as a token of her appreciation. The judges encouraged the participants with their words of wisdom after which the prize distribution took place.

D.P.S. Vasant Kunj won the first position, followed by D.P.S. Rohini in the second position, and Bal Bharati School in the third. All participants were awarded participation certificates.

The vote of thanks was delivered by the Vice Principal, Ms. Padma Srinivasan and the event concluded with the National Anthem.

Aarohan – Ascent of Young Minds

Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram organized ‘rohan- Ascent of the Young Minds’ – an Inter school debate on 10th and 11th August 2017. Around 38 schools from all over Delhi and the NCR participated in this two day competition. The event gave a platform for students from classes 6 to 8 to showcase their oratorical skills with powerful debates in Hindi as well as English.

The Headmistress, Ms. Rashmi Malhotra warmly welcomed the judges, Dr. Mita Bose, former Associate Professor of English at Indraprastha College, Ms. Kiran Misra, English Announcer for All India Radio and Ms Shraddha Adityavir Singh, English Lecturer at Zakir Hussain College on the first day of the event.

 

On the second day, Dr Mukul Sharma, Professor at Venkateshwar College, Ms Harsha Naya, Research Officer at the Central Hindi Directorate and Dr Kapil Sharma, Reporter and Anchor at Aaj Tak were the honoured chief guests. The Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal, in her address to the gathering, emphasised on the importance of learning to achieve greater heights. Also present on the occasion were the Coordinators of the English and Hindi Department, Dr.Atika Dayal and Mrs.Jyoti Bakshi and their team of teachers who organized the debate.

Competitors delivered eloquent debates and formidable arguments, on the topics, ‘Progress is a double-edged sword’ and ‘धन ही लक्ष्य तक पहुंचाता है’. The students participated in teams of two, one speaking for and the other against the motion, exemplifying the qualities of a top-notch debater in their own distinct way.

The First position in the English Debate was bagged by Seher Taneja of Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan, with Aryaman Jaiman from Apeejay School, Sheikh Sarai in the second and Pooja Saluja of Delhi Public School, Noida in the third position. Apeejay School, Sheikh Sarai emerged as the best team.
In the Hindi debate, Arshia Bhatnagar from DPS Sushant Lok bagged the first prize, whereas Ananya Agarwal from DPS Vasant Kunj and Saumya Maheshwari from Banyan Tree School got the second and the third prizes respectively. The trophy for the best team was awarded to Banyan Tree School. The overall ‘Aarohan – Ascent of Young Minds’ trophy was bagged by DPS Noida.
