Guest Speaker Program For Class IX

A guest speaker program was organised on 29 August 2017 for the students of class IX. Mr Gaurav Dwivedi, CEO ,MYGOV India , an IAS officer addressed the students about the need to be careful about their behaviour on social media .The program started with the Vice Principal Mrs Anita Singh welcoming the guest .Mr Gaurav Dwivedi then spoke to the students about understanding the need of security in the virtual world .He advised students on how they could guard their identity on the social networking sites and be selective about their friends group on social media . He cited examples of cases of cheating on social media. He also pointed the fraudulent sites which trap people and the need to verify the validity of such sites and told the students how they could check the authenticity of such sites . The guest then took questions from the students and solved their queries .



Workshop For Parents of Class VIII

A workshop was organized for parents of students of class VIII on 23 August 2017 from 2.30 p.m.- 4.30 p.m. in the A.V.H. The session was well attended. The ideology behind the workshop was guidance to better parenting , an insight to the child’s psyche and also to create awareness towards providing a greater cyber security for our children.

A welcome address was given by the Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal, who stressed upon the need for greater communication with the children, for being the role model for them and for learning to say ‘NO’ to the unacceptable wishes and demands of the children.

The Guest Speakers were Mr.Anand Agrawal, Additional Controller, Ministry of Defence and Dr. Vishal Chhabra, Psychiatrist, Fortis Healthcare. Mr. Agrawal spoke about keeping tabs on the child’s use of social media, putting up security settings to prevent unwarranted cybercrimes and to be aware of trending internet games that could prove to be dangerous e.g. the ‘Blue Whale challenge’.

Dr. Chhabra spoke of various parenting types; authoritative, disciplinarian and the accepting and acceding kinds. He  laid emphasis on keeping the communication channels open, upon building the entire personality and concept of the child rather than focussing on short term goals and also to avoid comparisons with siblings or friends. The workshop was quite interactive with many  parents putting up queries and seeking advice on dealing with normal day to day dilemmas of dealing with their children.

The session ended with the Headmistress, Ms. Rashmi Malhotra delivering a vote of Thanks.



Guest Speaker Programme for Biology Students of Class XII

Biology Department Delhi Public School, R.K.Puram organised Guest Speaker Programme for Class XII Biology Students on Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 9.30am to 10.30 am.

Dr.P. Jayaraj ,Assistant Professor , Department of Zoology, Sri Venkateswara college , University of Delhi was the speaker as subject expert. He explained the intricate details involved and highlighted various interesting aspects of Human Reproductive Biology.

It was an interactive session which brought more clarity and understanding of the topic in the students. The programme was coordinated by Ms Kajal Sethi, Ms Shalini Chanan and Ms Niva Chhonkar of the Biology Department.



Guest Speaker Programme – Organised by the Geography Dept and Disaster Management Club

A Guest Speaker Programme was organised by the Geography dept and Disaster Management club of DPS RK Puram on the 2/8/17. Professor Rakhi Parijat, Associate Professor of Geography, Miranda House , University of Delhi was invited to address the students. She was welcomed by the Principal Ms Vanita Sehgal. There were three sessions. The first session was on Disaster Management and was conducted for Disaster management monitors of classes 8, 9, and 12 . The session started with an interactive session with the students. Prof Parijat informed the students about the different aspects of disaster management and its significance in our lives.
The following session was conducted for the geography students of class 11, on ‘Remote sensing and its application in GIS and GPS’, where she spoke about the field work and communication techniques that have evolved over time with the help of remote sensing technology and its significance in today’s life.

The last session was held for the geography students of class 12, where Dr. Parijat enlightened the students on ‘Human Environment Interactions’ – the concepts of physical geography,ecology and evolution of human beings and culture and their impact on nature .

The sessions were very interesting and interactive. Mrs Arti Trivedi , Mrs.Sangeeta Rana and Mrs.Niva Chhonkar from the Disaster Management team Of the school were also present. The coordinator of the program Mrs Rupa Das, Head of the department, Geography delivered the vote of thanks.



Guest Speaker Programme for Students of Class VIII

A Guest Speaker Programme was organised for students of class VIII, sections A-F, on 3rd of August, 2017. Mr. Gaurav Dwivedi, CEO, MyGov, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, addressed the students. He spoke on the security issues while using the internet and the safe guards to be taken. He also sounded the students of the information leaked out on social website like Facebook etc. The talk was engaging and interactive. He shall also be providing a questionnaire for the parents to fill in regarding the above.
