‘MOSAIC 2016- Patterns of Life’

Delhi Public School, R.K.Puram hosted the annual Psych-Socio fest, “Mosaic 2016- Patterns of Life” on 5th November, 2016. The fest was organised jointly by the school’s Psychology and Sociology departments. With participation from 34 schools, Mosaic provided the students with a platform where they could mix the thrill of competition with an enriching learning experience. The judges for the occasion were Dr. Monalisa Palit, an eminent clinical psychologist and senior consultant at VIMHANS; Ms. Pankhuri Aggarwal, research assistant at the National Institute for Public Finance and Policy and Clinical Psychologist at the Neurology and Sleep Clinic in Delhi; Ms. Vishnupriya Rajgarhia, Teaching Assistant at Ashoka University and Design Assistant for a theatre production; Ms. Mahima Goburdhun, student at Ashoka University and Assistant Director in a short film and Mr. Rahul Vats, student at University of Manchester. Present on the occasion were the Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal; Vice Principal, Ms. Padma Srinivasan and Head of Departments for Psychology and Sociology, Ms. Vithika Rahul and Dr. Rita Khanna.

The event commenced with the felicitation of the guests by the Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal. Ms. Vithika Rahul welcomed the gathering and called the event, “an attempt to find one’s abilities, express oneself and learn through experiences.” The Principal, Ms. Vanita Sehgal addressed the students and exhorted them to fully enjoy all the activities. This was followed by a mesmerising devotional dance performance.

Mosaic 2016 included four events- Mind Games , a general quiz on India; Showcase, an analysis of advertisement clips judged by Ms. Pamkhuri Aggarwal and Dr Monalisa Palit; Canvas, the poster making contest judged by Ms. Vishnupriya Rajgarhiya; and Pick and Click, a photo essay competition that was judged by Ms. Mahima Goburdhun and Mr. Rahul Vats.

The closing ceremony was graced by a melodious duet that pleased everyone. DPS Gurgaon bagged the first position for Mind Games while Ahlcon Public school came second. The winner for the Showcase was Ambience Public School while the first runner up was Modern School, Barakhamba Road. Vasant Valley School secured the first position in Canvas while DPS Rohini was the first runners up. The Indian School won the Pick and Click event whereas DPS Mathura Road came second. The Indian School was the overall winner and was awarded the rolling trophy.

The Vice Principal, Ms. Padma Srinivasan delivered the vote of thanks. The event will go a long way in broadening the horizons of students when it comes to Psychology and Sociology, not only as subjects in the curriculum but also as disciplines.
